Eclectic and artistic. Visually appealing to book lovers. Love the stairs and fun rugs and little notes. Lots of windows and natural light. Fun books and neat sections. Great displays. Beatific corner building. I didn’t go upstairs but says there is a cafe!

Square Books in downtown Oxford, Mississippi is definitely the best place to find all books in this charming and historic university town. It has an upstairs area with balcony to enjoy a cold drink, coffee or tea (no alcohol). Hundreds of framed photographs adorn all the walls, depicting celebrities and authors who have shopped here. Credit and debit cards are accepted and the entire store is delightfully air-conditioned.

I have not been to Square books for 20 years, but l think of it all the time. It left one of the greatest impressions on me of any book store l have ever been too. I still have all of the history books that l treasure dearly, about the old South that l bought there, and took back to Australia, where l reside. In the book desert that is Australia,we will never have a place like this. The atmosphere is just mesmerising. I plan to fly my 8 year old to Mississippi, to show him what an incredible place Oxford and Square books is, it holds a place dear in my heart.

Square Books is an independent bookstore located on the courthouse square in Oxford, MS. My wife and I always drop by when we are visiting Oxford. It’s one of the highlights of our trip! If you love authentically unique places, you need to visit the store. It’s a so much better experience than the homogenized big box stores. The staff is friendly and helpful and the book selection is very nice. If you like bookstores, this is by far one of the best. Make a point to pay them a visit!

I always love stopping by when I'm in town. It's so beautiful here and they have great people running the place. Grab a book and some coffee here while you support local business. This place is a definite must if you're in the area.
