AMC Gulf Pointe 30
What people are saying
I’ve been going to this AMC since its grand opening back in ‘97 when I was in middle school. When it first opened it was the greatest theater ever and remained that way for a long time. I still go because I enjoy the nostalgia and the movie theaters themselves still have great sound and visuals. I also like taking my kids to share the experience and show them where I watched movies growing up. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for everything else. The court out front used to be a fun hangout spot for students on the weekends. Now it looks depressing and feels abandoned. You wouldn’t know the theater itself is still operating if it wasn’t for the cars parked out front. Everything is online or automated now so it’s understandable that staff is no longer required outdoors, but they should really just tear down the buildings or repurpose them. It looks dead and takes away from overall experience. The food and drink station areas in the main lobby are always dirty. Staff is inattentive. The concession areas on either wing have been shut down for years so they should repurpose those areas too instead of just covering them up with marketing material. I’m still a big fan of movie theaters in general and I have fond memories of this one so I’m just being critical because I hate to see it in its current state.
Older theater complex, lots of dirty, worn, grungy equipment and surfaces. The theaters themselves are nice, comfy chairs, great sound, but the sound from the adjoining theaters carries through, so during quiet parts of your movir, you hear the movie from the room next door. Employees are very nice and helpful.
Reasonable prices compared to Cinemark and Star Cinema Grill. The seats are still regular upright seats so maybe that's why, who knows. Still worth it. Of course they offer the same new releases as other theaters as well. The theaters are clean and the staff is pleasant.
Went to go see Despicable Me 4 the other night. Show started at 930 pm. Of course drinks and snacks are always going to be expensive at these places but that's not what got me. The thing I didn't understand is movie theater did not even have the AC on, and I was miserable the whole time as well as others. After so many folks not having air conditioner after a recent hurricane, the least we want to do is come and enjoy a good movie while being comfortable. Hopefully, this is not what happens all the time, and it was just that one night when we went, but if this does occur more often I hope they get everything fixed ASAP.
We went to see Inside Out 2 in 3D and paid $105 for 4 adults and 3 children. We ordered our popcorn and drinks ahead of time and we loved that part. I gave 3 stars because the seats were so small it was hard to get comfortable and there was no reclining feature either.
