Teske's Germania
What people are saying
I seldom go to san Jose. Last Saturday, my friend said we would go there to drink beer, so we went to this shop. I was amazed by the ambience, the service and the food, especially the beer. The decoration and furnishings of the house are the kind of old furniture with a sense of time. A liter of beer is really good for me to drink. And his signature German dish,Roast pork knuckle and sausage, is the best I've had in the Bay Area. The service was also very warm and friendly.I already want to move my family to live nearby.
Had the marinated beef roast with pasta and apfel strudel. The entree was good, but I think it’s a little expensive (27 dollars). The dessert felt like it was really stale. The decor is great, and the service is friendly
Pretty good food overall. Sauerbroten was a little dry. Schnitzels were pretty good. Spatzle and potato salad were very good. Tomato and cucumber salad was delicious. Beer, of course, was excellent. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.
Ordered potato pancake, jalapeno pretzel, and the pork shank. The serving sizes were large. The pancakes were very greasy and the applesauce tasted store bought. Wish they offered sour cream. The pretzels taste like a good frozen pretzel. They were a little dry but have a cheese filling which helped with that. The pork shank was huge and tender but bland. I liked the sauerkraut and potato salad the most. Mostly everything was just not seasoned well. The restaurant is a lot bigger than you realize at first when you walk in. The host sat us in the outdoor area near the band, but I wished they'd asked where I'd like to sit. I wasn't looking for a loud dinner, but the band was good. The server in the back was spread way too thin and the service was bad as a result. The waiter brought us a chocolate mousse as an apology, but honestly it wasn't very good. We didn't finish the mousse. It tasted bitter like cocoa powder but weirdly overly sweet at the same time. It wasn't so bad of a place. Some people might really like it, but I would not go back. The clientele seemed mostly like older folk, and I guess they cook to that crowd. I also had a very upset stomach immediately after leaving....
Service was great, as staff was very friendly. Mushroom sauce in the schnitzel was amazing. Good selection of sausages in the appetizer. Will definitely dine here again. Atmosphere became more festive the longer we stayed. We opted to eat inside but they had a live band out back.
