Smyth Tribeca
What people are saying
I recently stayed at the Smyth Tribeca to celebrate my 20th birthday with my family. To say that the staff went above and beyond to make my experience special would be an understatement. Glasses of champagne for each of my family members upon entering and balloons were waiting for me in my room!! The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating to all of my needs and delivered everything I asked for with haste. The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom lighting was perfect (for all my makeup girls). I will definitely be coming back to this hotel for future celebrations and I suggest you do too!
Oh, what a truly magical hotel to stay at. We just adored every moment of our stay. From the elegant decor to the impeccable service, every detail was perfect. The luxurious amenities and breathtaking views made our experience truly unforgettable. We can't wait to return to this enchanting hotel in the future.
The rooms are nothing to write home about. The bathroom looks beautiful but is definitely form over function. The frosted glass shower feels chic at first but is totally impractical when the light goes on in the middle of the night thus illuminating the whole room. The bathroom door is a slider and doesn’t properly close which gives the user basically no privacy. The bed and bedding was fine but I noticed there was no mattress protector which is a bit skeevey for a luxury Manhattan hotel. Overall I’d say the rooms need to be renovated with a complete overhaul of all beds and bedding.
I was expecting more for the room. We went to celebrate my husband’s 85 birthday! Not a single detail or effort to make his birthday special. In addition, bed was very uncomfortable. Bathroom only has two towels-I had to call and ask for more. Never arrived, my husband had to go and pick them up. Very uncomfortable bathroom set up. No space to put our stuff. Room vas very dark. Only one window. The AC was not good. I was hot all the time I was there. WiFi reception was very spotty. And after everything we paid, they charged us $45 per night as a service fee. When I asked what was that service for, they didn’t know. Very bad experience.
We had high expectations based on other reviews. Great location, aesthetically pleasing lobby. Aside from looking good, the quality was lacking when it came to the essentials. Firm beds low to the ground with scratchy bedding (no flat sleet just a thin comforter) and flat pillows. Not comfy or luxurious hotel bed feeling by any means. One ply toilet paper, and overused towels that felt like sandpaper. Robes felt like an old beach towel. Not enough/inconveniently located outlets. TVs with basic cable but no casting ability. No floor length mirror. If the quality of essentials matters to you, there are other hotels that offer more thoughtful service for the same price. Didn’t try the restaurant but paid $160 for two cocktails at their bar.
