Ramada by Wyndham Birmingham Airport
What people are saying
After reading several negative reviews about this hotel, I was apprehensive about my stay here. However, to my surprise, it wasn't as bad as I had feared. The hotel's condition is evident as soon as you enter. While the lobby seemed a bit outdated, the front desk agent warmly greeted me with a smile, making a good first impression. I overheard her interactions with other guests, and she was equally kind and helpful to them. Despite the noticeable lack of air conditioning in the hot hallways, the operational elevator quickly took me to my room on the 4th floor. Although the hallways were warm, they were quiet and free from any unpleasant odors. The old vending and ice machines I passed by seemed like they were on their last legs. Upon entering my room, I was pleasantly surprised. The bed was neatly made and very comfortable. Despite some known drainage issues in the bathroom, such as standing water in the tub and slow drainage, as well as problems with the toilet and sink, they were manageable without needing to contact the front desk. This hotel is conveniently located near the airport with ample, well-lit parking. If you're seeking a budget-friendly option close to the airport that's decent enough for a short stay, this could be the place for you. While I might consider staying here again, I believe I could find better accommodations elsewhere.
This place is completed not worth the money. The A/C barely works, one lamp didn’t work, another lamp just flickered and worked when it wanted to. The sink would drop the entire time. The shower curtain didn’t even fit the length of the tub and made a mess. Bring your own pillows, these were not comfy at all. Wish management would make this place better for as much as you pay here. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk, and no microwaves in the room. They are out in the hallway, so depending where your room is . . . It could be on the other side of the building. The hallways smelled like marijuana daily, there were even ashes in the elevator. Each morning, expect to be woken up by several African Americans in the parking lot blasting their music and the workers there not doing anything about it. But here is the worse part: you have to actually tell them when you want your room cleaned and towels replaced. They won’t do it daily for as much as you pay. One day we left the sign on the door to service our room and all they did was get the towels out…they didn’t even replace them, nor do beds, nor take out trash. We had to of course go get some towels from downstairs. Day before that, we had to go back to the lobby to get cards re-keyed as they didn’t set them for our duration. That same day, we informed them that our room didn’t even have a door to the restroom and they said, “I don’t know how maintenance missed that”. Then the next day we were gone all day and again they didn’t do our room. So I went downstairs and asked what the deal is with that. The Asian guy (same guy who was supposedly going to inform maintenance about putting a restroom door), said “you have to inform us”. I said I did by leaving the sign on the door. Your cleaning people came in since they took my towels the other day”. He kept making excuses and still charged us full price. I even informed him how African American gentleman who checked us in didn’t tell us that. So how are we supposed to know. Still more excuses. Stay away from here. It is super ghetto and shady here. If you stay here, you’ll know what I mean. And just like others spoke about breakfast, lame and very limited. Neither day was stuff all put out at once. Picture shows where restroom has no door.
This place is terrible. Room was hot and stayed hot during the night. AC not working properly. Breakfast is not as advertised and make sure you get the ticket from the front desk. Staff is rude and not interested at all in accommodating guest. And, the last straw, pool opens at 4 pm and stays open for only few hours. Will never be back her again
This could be a really nice hotel if they would fix a few things. I will say the good & then the bad. The room looked remodeled, and USB ports in the room. The bed is very comfortable. It is located within 12 minutes of the downtown night life like the Fennec. The price was good. On the other hand, the air conditioner doesn't work properly & we were hot the whole time. It is only the beginning of June, you will roast in this hotel come July & August!! The shower head was so low that a 5 foot 3 inch lady couldn't stand under it. No, it is not a room for the disabled. Water drains slow in the sink & tub. This could be a nice place if they would fix the above. I stay the night in Birmingham a lot, and I will not be staying here again.
The room was nice and I loved the layout. The lobby was beautiful! The staff was friendly too. We particularly liked the breakfast staff. The gentleman and his wife were super sweet. We would definitely stay here again.
