Horrifying doesn’t adequately describe this horrendous and dilapidated hotel. We booked months prior because the lack of other local options. Pictures on the website are not accurate. We were welcomed by an empty parking lot and the worst curb appeal I've ever seen for a major hotel brand -- no landscaping, rooms with disheveled curtains. A sign haphazardly hung on the door - watch for glass -- a wonderful welcome. Three windows in the lobby had been smashed with rocks and we're not repaired. Once inside, a man was watching something on his phone and barely acknowledged me. I peered down the hall and into the now infamous pool which was sealed off with shades and a sign saying “out of order.” I immediately told the man I would not be staying and wanted a refund. I said the safety issues were too much. He claimed he would not charge my card and prints off a paper saying balance due. I called Choice and they seemed willing to help me so I went back in and they navigated through the situation on speaker with the man. He kept saying “no cancel” and seemed to think he could not refund me because he has no money in the desk. The rep said if you don't refund me then we will and thankfully they were able to process the refund. I think I get how this sham works. They use the Choice Hotel brand to lure in unsuspecting folks and when they get to the location they refuse to stay. The hotel refuses to refund and the family moves on to other options writing off the loss. Choice Hotels needs to pull their name so that this hotel. Locals told me it was a sad state and I learned that they employ hard-up folks and drug addicts to live there in clean rooms which explains the lack of cleanliness and standards. When I was in the lobby a strung out woman stumbled in. Hopefully you avoid our mistake and pass this place by. You will save money and hassle.
Dirty. Disgusting. Dangerous. STAY AWAY!! This property is every bit as run down and filthy as other reviews have mentioned, but what I felt most uneasy about was LACK OF SAFETY: hotel room door lock/handle/plateframe was loose and jiggled, exterior window did not lock at all, side security door did not lock, front door had hand-written sign saying "Caution Broken Glass" and judging from online reviews, the hotel has operated like this for YEARS!? I literally physically baricaded myself in my room at night and left as soon as possible in the morning. Horrible and overpriced!!
STAY AWAY! The pool NEVER works but they will not charge less for your stay. The lobby is DISGUSTING and stinks. I would be afraid to see the rooms! This is A HORRIBLE place! The owner is a barely English speaking butt head! I booked on priceline and somehow ended up with the wrong date. I talked to the owner and he said he would change the date but I would have to pay more for tonight. Not a problem... Priceline talked to him and he would not give me a refund so I could pay in person for tonight at the higher price. But kept saying I could change the date but he could not charge me the difference in price that Priceline would have to do it. The only way Priceline can do it is to cancel the first and re-book. But he WOULD NOT approve the cancelation as I was standing the with credit card in hand to pay the twice as much difference in person! JUST STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
This place was disgusting. I wish I would have read the reviews. Trash everywhere outside, the pool and hot tub were out of order and from reading the reviews it's been out for a long time. No hair dryer, broken remote control, no fitted sheets on the beds, light was out above the mirror in the bathroom, we never got clean towels or changed garbage for our 3 night stay, leg was broken on the fridge so every time I opened it, it would rock.....the guy on the front desk was creepy and was staring at me while I was getting my breakfast.....only one door opened so we couldn't use the side door of the building....
Unfortunately this place needs a lot of work. I have stayed here several times for business over the last 3 years and every time things seem to be worse. The pool which is heralded on the sign out front has not been open for at least 3 years. The housekeeping has also declined to the point that it's apparently non-existent at this point. The rooms in general have never been the best but having paint fall from the ceiling while your taking a shower is a new low. I noted several items that were expired in the breakfast area so I would definitely skip eating any of the food there. I tried to explain my concerns to the gentleman at the front desk after calling the phone number on the placard to have him meet me, but I could tell the conversation was going nowhere. I later contacted Choice Hotels to go on record with the concerns. They were very understanding and indicated that they would be looking into the matter. I will end with this. I would avoid this establishment until such time that the health and cleanliness issues are resolved. Personally I will not be back.
