Northbrook
What people are saying
This nice station on the Metra Milwaukee District North Line is located in downtown Northbrook, just steps away from awesome shops and restaurants. Village Green Park is steps away. Inside the station is a small cafe. It has limited hours of operation, but two affiliated vending machines are available for customer use afterhours. Also Inside is a small library. Rolling along these tracks other than Metra trains are freight trains (this railroad is owned by Canadian Pacific) and Amtrak trains (an Amtrak station is in neighboring Glenview).
The lot gets so busy on weekday Rush Hour.
It's a train station, what more can you say? However the little coffee shop is pretty good. Donuts, coffee, soda, etc... The staff that work there are super nice especially the woman who runs it! People have a tendency to run around the gate (against the law people) but I guess since they are mostly lawyers they can get away with it!
Try this train to get to the city vs the el. Nice places to grab some food or coffee too. The station is locked on weekends but of course the train still runs just there is no shelter when waiting so plan accordingly. Free parking on weekends.
Great place to railfan and slot of trains and horns at this station!
