Rented our Tucson SUV at the Pittsburgh airport for 14 days returning it to the Albany, NY airport, by way of Canada. Absolutely no issues, car rode nicely, plenty of storage room for luggage. The pick up and drop off are the best part of National. When we returned the car in Albany is was before working hours so just dropped the keys in the night drop box and we were off. So easy, efficient.
What a crazy weekend for flight travel! Good thing we had a National rental. Our Sunday flight cancelled so we opted to drive the 11+ hours home to Atl- the National app and team made it so easy!. Just logged in to my app, reserved another rental (had literally just returned our car 30 minutes before), walked back to the rental center and picked it up. The team at the rental center was very helpful in directing us and got us on our way within 20 minutes of our reservation. Extraordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Staff (at least the one guy I spoke to) was not very helpful. I wanted a nicer sedan, as typically I get nice vehicle selections with National. They only had emerald level sedans and coupes. Every executive level vehicle was pretty much a truck, jeep, or SUV. Since I couldn’t get a car I wanted, I finally found a Palisade that was just brought back from the wash and it was really nice. I didn’t want something so big for just me, but was the only one that I really liked. Great features in it though. The features were all working, as you will sometimes run into features in rentals where they haven’t renewed licenses for them. So that was nice. I’d say fully loaded. Had heated and ventilated seats, adaptive cruise control, massage chair, and lots more. The return process was also easy, per usual. Overall it was a good experience.
Car was dirty, broke down and spent hours in a parking lot with kids in a vacation trying to call National. There was one phone number and when someone answered they were in another country, could not help me, I could not reach anyone at the airport or in any administrative role, the customer service was horrible. I was stranded with kids, roadside assistance was nowhere. I had to do things completely on my own and with the help of strangers. I called national 13 times and at the end of the day circuits were still full and nobody helped me or tried to help me and my family. It was horrible. I am not paying them a dime and I hope they take me to court. Because I am ready…I am still waiting for anyone to call me as I tried to leave messages with their folks in other countries who answer their phones but they had no idea about anything. They just read a script, couldn’t get me a car, could not help me at all. I was stranded with kids and they did not care at all. A rep from National asked me to reach out, but gave me the same e mail address and the same phone numbers to the same people who did not know anything so I tried to call the Pittsburgh lot and office but there lines are jammed, nobody answers, and I’m disconnected, oh yes they are closed on the weekend, and the care is due back. Again, no help.
It was a hassle-free, quick process. There were no lines. I was greeted by a representative who showed me where my rental car was parked. The process is much better than that of other rental car companies. The vehicle was clean and in great condition. Drop-off was super-fast. The price was excellent. It was half the price of two other rental car companies—you can guess which ones.
