We took a little Antique road trip to Blackstone this weekend, and stopped in at Mitchell's for lunch. It's a cute homey little place with a fairly decent variety. I had the Nachos, and hubby had the patty melt with a side of Mac and cheese. We ordered an appetizer of fried mushrooms, and we both had a diet soda. The mushrooms were good, nice large breaded shrooms, they served it with a horseradish sauce which I don't care for, so they happily supplied us with a cup of ranch. Hubby enjoyed his food, I was in the mood for a club sandwich, but they only had a turkey club, so I settled on the nachos. They were your basic nachos, not too bad, but a bit skimpy with the toppings. The staff were very friendly, and our waitress gave good service. It was a nice relaxing lunch. Price before tip was about $39

Lovely locally-owned restaurant! Nostalgia for me because 30 to 40 ago as a child I used to come here when visiting the area and would practice speaking Greek to Ms. Stella, the owners mother from Greece. Although the location has changed, the welcoming family atmosphere is still the same…EXCELLENT! Great restaurant in a small town.

Stopped in for lunch around 2:00pm. Missed the rush. The seating area was clean and in good repair showing that they do care about the impression they want to leave for the customer. I had the patty melt with a mac n' cheese side while my Bride had the nachos. Both were good, served promptly and still hot. The mushrooms were large and not the premade type some restaurants get from their suppliers. Will be back for a second helping soon. The staff and food were welcoming and definitely left us with that we will be back feeling. A recommend stop when in Blackstone.

Mitchell's has made a huge comeback and their Special yesterday was a Fried Pickle Burger. I'm a self proclaimed burger Connoisseur, trying burgers all across this great nation and that Burger was hands down top of the line. I was excited to try to but was not expecting the layers of flavors. Spot on! Top notch! Real ground beef patty that they put together, not the frozen cheap ones that so many other places use. I literally woke up at 2am thinking about it Best Burger in not only Blackstone, but in Virginia! The new staff is absolutely wonderful! Caring, hard working and very polite. Can't wait to come back! Food was good! As far as the waitress and staff RUDE! Waitress came to table and threw the condiment tray on the table, slammed the menus down and said what can I get you to drink Really……..my response Well Hello to you also She did not greet us when we walked in and she looked right at us She said her mind was on a million things Sorry not my issue tonight She did not serve us as I am sure I irritated her which shows her lack of skills When we left no one thanked us or said have a good evening As a previous restaurant manager, you don’t do this Like to give locals a chance but if you are not from the town you are out of luck here! Really disappointed!
