The service was great, and the wait time was quicker than they said. The appetizers were great, we had the fried green beans and the ginger shrimp. One of us got the garbage plate which was delicious. Us other three got the fish tacos. On the menu, it says you can get them grilled or blackened. One of us got blackened and us other two got grilled. We were pretty surprised when the plates came out and one of the tacos was well seasoned and the other two orders were white. They looked like they had been boiled. We thought “blackened” meant charred, not seasoned, so we unintentionally ordered unseasoned, bland, white fish. It was pretty disappointing, especially because it would be wasteful to send the fish back. I attached a picture below of the difference between the two. Other than that, we had a pleasant experience and I’m sure you would too, just be careful what and how you order.

On our way home from OBX, the kids wanted to stop at McDonald's for lunch. It was 11am, and Mama Kwans opened at 1130 and I was able to speak to the Manager before they opened so she gave us more than the best treatment. She took our order and tho there was a line waiting for them to open, we still got the presidential treatment. 10 out of 5 stars, service wise and 10 put of 5 for the tacos. Not easy yo eat while driving so I definitely recommend just staying and eating, the ambience is more than welcoming. I'm sure she will see this review and remember the little boy with the nunchucks and remember us, but my friend from Northern Virginia recommended this place and told me if they weren't the best fish tacos I'd ever had he would cover the bill. That's why only pic is the receipt, cuz I took it to let him know I was gonna hold him to his promise! He didn't pay as they were indeed the best, Blackened is def the way to go, and I'll stop here everytyme I'm in the OBX from now on. Simply the best atmosphere, service, and food! Next tyme we will sit and enjoy our tacos right there!!!! Thank You Again Mama Kwan For Your Amazing Food, Help, and Your Service and Hospitality are and we're 2nd to none. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their jerk wings were soooo good! Their painkiller was great, but the bushwhacker was amazing! One of the best drinks I’ve ever had.

Revisited this obx Hawaiian theme restaurant. We had a very nice lunch. Been here years ago. I still remember some good dishes we had. It is still very good years later. Food was very fresh and came out quickly. The blackened tuna nachos were very good. The food portion is a decent amount.

Really enjoyed this place. Highly highly recommend the blackened nachos - I think it was the best of the options we picked from. The souvenir glasses with drinks were fun too!
