We had dinner here and it was fantastic! The food was fresh and tasty. The oysters were especially fresh. After enjoying the crab soup and a Bloody Mary, I was quite full, but the warm black cod salad was amazing—you should definitely try it. This experience was absolutely worth it.

Had the best seafood I’ve ever eaten. Had the summer cold sampler, tuna kebabs, and the grilled halibut and peaches. We cleared every plate and left no scraps even when we got full. I’m convinced that the chef must be a genius and if I’m ever in Newport again I will be coming back.

If I could give this place 6+ stars I would. Or even a Michelin star- hand it over!! Looking through the reviews, you may see people complaining about the 20% automatic service charge. Ignore them. The service here is top tier from the fantastic waiters & bartenders to the kitchen staff. I was more than happy to have that 20% put on the bill and I decided to give a little more ontop just because they handled my nut allergy in the best way, I have never felt so comfortable in a restaurant. I love eating out. I travel and try food. But I know with an extreme nut allergy, there is always a risk. They have a solid system for allergies and were so sweet about it! I even ordered dessert, something I rarely do because of my allergy. It was AMAZING. I will be dreaming about this place for years to come. Too bad it's over 20 hours away from home. 😭 The location, gorgeous! We got to sit in their beautiful upper level space right next to the large windows filled with views of the bay. Perfect! The food was to die for. Not only was it one of the best meals I've ever had, it was the best seafood I have ever had. I had the halibut overtop grilled peaches, mozzarella, and a poblano pepper. Man, I cannot express with words how insane the flavors were. Such a well thought out dish. The halibut was locally fished, and you could tell. My friend had the coho salmon dish cooked medium rare. Delicious! I ordered their marg cocktail, and highly recommend it. It had fresh grapefruit squeezed overtop and was beautifully executed. My mom got their burger, which was pretty good. It could have used a bit more seasoning, but to be fair this is a seafood place. I only expect greatness from the seafood, but atleast non-seafood lovers still have a few options. Lastly, their dessert was fantastic. I got the Taza De Crema Con Chocolate (I am not allergic to pistachios so I was excited to finally try a dessert with pistachios in it). It was heaven! My friend got the peach whiskey cake, it was also excellent! Overall, I love this place. It was a pricey splurge, but so very worth it!! A note to Local Ocean: You guys are amazing thank you so much for your amazing service! I can tell you all are very proud of the service you provide, and you should be. I got myself a t-shirt and some pictures to remember the evening we spent in your beautiful restaurant. 💜 I hope to be back some day!

Sometimes you run across a place that 5 stars just seems too little. Local Ocean Seafoods is one of them. A lucky experience 8 years ago allowed us to cross paths with the best fish and chips I have ever had and after our most recent visit the other day I am finally getting in my review. It’s one of those dishes that will ruin your ability to order anywhere else. So perfectly prepared. Seasoned to perfection. The fish cooked to a perfect flaky amazingness. The breading so perfectly encrusting this amazing piece of fish. I have returned here three times over the past 8 years. Always eager to indulge in this dish. Each time slightly more amazing than I remembered. And of course sharing it with others is even better. This trip the family joined. And their joy was the same as mine. Each dish was packed with flavor. And of course they have some of the best strawberry lemonade you can find. Yes it is worth the drive. Come alone or bring the family. You will not be disappointed. The only disappointment will come if you live far away and have to dream of your next visit for their amazing fish and chips.

I recently dined at Local Ocean, a popular seafood restaurant that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the gluten-free Brazilian stew, a dish bursting with flavor and made with fresh seafood. The menu featured a variety of seafood options, all sourced locally and impeccably fresh. The gluten-free Brazilian stew stole the show with its rich and savory broth, filled with tender seafood and aromatic spices. Each spoonful was a delight, and I appreciated the attention to detail in catering to dietary restrictions without compromising on taste. Aside from the stew, I also tried a few other seafood dishes, all of which were cooked to perfection and showcased the quality of the ingredients. The flavors were vibrant, and it was evident that the chef had a passion for creating memorable seafood dishes. Overall, Local Ocean exceeded my expectations with its fresh seafood and handful of gluten-free options. I highly recommend this restaurant to seafood lovers looking for a memorable dining experience. A star was docked from this review due to the level of service, which was mediocre at best. We also saw other diners feasting on items that weren’t explained to us and weren’t on the menu—for these, we had to inquire.
