Absolutely atrocious. Traveling on a budget shall NOT mean paying less to stay at this "hotel." It is a total DISASTER. From afar, it may look like an innocent structure, which happens to be close to the beautiful bay of Hilo. But once you arrive to the "lobby," you already know something is wrong. Do not be fooled by the pictures on the website; it is nothing like it. The building is old, falling apart, smells funny, dirty, and you must share the space with people who actually live there. You'd be lucky if something in your room actually works and you'd be lucky if you do not run into some type of insect. This must be a "new" establishment, as the front desk employee did not know what they were doing. The checking in and out process was odd and not hotel-like. Please, everyone, do NOT stay at this hotel. The other Hilo establishments might cost a little more, but trust me that it is worth being sane and comfortable. If you're looking for another decent budget hotel, you could simply go next door to the Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel, which is two buildings to the right of the Hilo Bay Hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and three days. Not the greatest experience. The hotel itself does not have room service so that kind of grossed us out, which the website says other wise . There were still hairs from the previous people in the shower. There is also no trash can in the room. The thing I did notice though is that some rooms did have TVs and our did not. The good things about the hotel are the ocean view from our balcony and the pool is located right next to the ocean. The bed was clean and comfy! There is a fridge and sink but s microwave would have been nice as well. Overall the staff our very friendly and helpful. The Pagoda is centrally located to alot of stuff near by in Hilo. If u really care about cleanliness I would go somewhere else. If it's not that big of a deal Pagoda is a cheap hotel in a central location with friendly staff :)

Bro, I'm always super honest and so here it is. No jokes or nothing but this place was no. The front desk person was always away & never there. No one picks up your calls. The place was super ghetto and run down. Looked like those old buildings in zombie apocalypse films. The elevator was broken for who knows how long. The stairs going up was so rusty I swear it could've broke. Our room wasn't any better as the beds we're made, but everything was scary looking. The ceilings had water pockets. There were small ants crawling around all over. People actually live there as well so it's NOT a hotel. The website pictures are definitely NOT up to date & total false advertisement. Don't stay here or unless you want to be disappointed.

A friend of mine had rented this place before he left to the mainland. He forgot to leave his key so I dropped it off to his room. This place is ghetto. The elevators don't work and you have to use the stair well to get in, which is sketchy cuz I couldn't help but feel like I had to hurry up and get outta there, it wreaked of cigarettes and I felt like I was gonna get robbed. However the view of the harbor was gorgeous!

This was the worst hotel experience of my life. Roaches everywhere. It is super humid and hot and the windows are bolted shut. No A/C and no balcony. People live here. I read somewhere that It is low income housing. This old Rundown place should be demolished and rebuilt as a REAL hotel. Pay a little extra and stay anywhere else.
