Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Galveston West/Seawall
What people are saying
This was a great stay for families. Continental breakfast was good (my son liked the waffles!) . The pool area was clean. Staff was very helpful and polite. The communication was perfect for us visiting the area for the first time. Beds were very comfortable! Would stay again
Great hotel. Decent price for being so close to the beach. Clean, no issues. Nice continental breakfast. Comfortable beds and decent rooms. Room service was on top of it and we had clean towels everyday without asking. Fridge in the room was a little broken but it still worked and was perfect for what we had. This was my second time staying here and will definitely stay here again the next time I come to Galveston!
Wish I could give this place negative stars. Showed up and got our room. Went upstairs and noticed there was blood on the covers. Went down to the front desk and told them. They asked if we used the bathroom or touched the bed, I'm assuming so they wouldn't have to clean it again for the next guest. They switched us rooms and the shower had dirty foot prints, there was pubic hair on the toilet seat and floor and white stains on the comforter and chair. We went down stairs to get our money back and the lady seemed super annoyed. Would rather sleep in my car than to sleep in this place. I don't think it's a coincidence that the 2 rooms they showed us were the only dirty ones. And the halls and elevator reeked of weed.
This hotel is very, very dirty and falling apart. The other negative reviews are accurate. The whole hotel smells like mold and mildew. All of our clothing and belongings reeked of mold after just a few hours in the room. I understand that this is a common issue by the coast and I expected a little bit but this was so strong that I could smell it in my hair when I was walking the beach. I bought a candle and room spray to battle the smell but it had zero effect. When we got to the room we could not get in. Turns out key card/door in our room was broken. Front desk told us we would have to push down, then up after inserting the card and door should open. So you better have 3 hands and move quickly if you want to enter your room. Oh also our TV broke and while that doesn’t sound like a big deal our room was pretty quiet so you could hear everyone around you all night long. I tried 3 separate times to have them fix our TV but kept getting brushed off. We ended up leaving a day early because we could not take it anymore. Also, Because it was after 11:0am “checkout time” the hotel would not work with me on refunding me the for the night we were not staying it was only 3:00pm when we decided to leave. I will say the air conditioning was super cold they have it set to 61 and that is great especially after breaking a sweat trying to use the key card. Looking back I think they set it so low to try and somehow help with the sever mold issue.
We will never stay here again and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!! The maintenance person came into our room UNANNOUNCED while my husband and I were naked!!! The manager, Melanie, was rude when I spoke to her about this. She stated she spoke to the maintenance guy and he just didn’t check his list before entering. Like that made it alright!! We did not ask for anyone in maintenance so there was no reason for them to come to our room. The hotel manager even acted like it was our fault and grudgingly credited us for one night. She was not empathetic and only apologized, again very grudgingly. I have never been so humiliated and felt so violated in my life.
