In the short few months I've lived in Utah, I've found myself coming back to the Broadway more than anywhere else in my free time. This isn't any old movie theater. This is an independent, non-profit theater. They're frequently running indie, foreign and older films that you'll never find the bigger chains. They're also one of the locations that does screenings for the Sundance Film Festival. Somehow, even as a small facility, there's no issue of sound bleeding between theaters! If I had to give any negatives, I'd wish that they expanded the showing schedule a bit. Frequently they'll run a themed series such as the recent "I'm Just Ryan" or current "Kubrick & Kurosawa" series, and only do one showing around 9-9:30. To add to the inconvenience, if you took public transit, you'll have a mad dash to catch the last bus or train home (I've also had complaints for the UTA not running service a bit later) Overall, this has been one of my favorite theater going experiences. I first discovered them running The Wolf Man from 1941 and I couldn't resist! Since then I've come to see a bunch of imports and smaller films that I wouldn't have even heard of had it not been for the Broadway running them.

Broadway theater is a Salt Lake Local Gem - it’s the perfect place where you can get a chance to watch some of the best films that typically don’t get screened at the mega commercial theaters in town. They also do a lot of screenings of old classics -

Amazing theater with a great selection of movies and a genuine care for the community. I’d recommend going here; they have a lot of cool events where they rescreen older movies on the big screen. In February of this year, they showed Drive (2011), and it was a great experience. Check out what they’re screening—maybe they have your favorite movie. They also host a summer fest with a great selection of films and screen some new releases too. Overall, it’s a very solid place I’d recommend to my friends and family.

I am so thankful I can see films that are not mainstream.. I've been a red carpet member for years and I appreciate the discounts I receive at the concession stand & when purchasing tickets. I wish they used more environmentally friendly cups, straws, and lids. Employees are fairly warm & friendly. I'm a bit bummed they didn't take my issue more seriously... Tonight the online checkout charged me more than it should have, and normally does for one $5 Tuesday ticket, and one senior discounted ticket. Not the end of the world. I wasn't going to squabble over $5... the profits keep the film center up and running.

The movies just keep rolling and the ice cream sandwiches never end. I have said this before but the contuity of staff and colunteers is very special to me. And their movie knowledge and sharing really makes for a complete visit. Thanks.
