What people are saying
This was our second time eating here. We went during HH and it was hopping. We sat outside, it's too bad the patio just faces 17 north. They were down a server but the remaining staff stepped up and really worked hard to get people service promptly. They have a lot of sushi which is really good. I also liked the appetizers we got which included chicken quesadillas and steak tips. It's a relaxing place and feels like more locals during off season.
We had a great experience here and absolutely loved the menu! We started with the jalapeño popper eggrolls which were delicious. We had two rolls on the happy hour menu, the spicy tuna and super crunch both were great but I felt like they had just a tad too much spicy mayo because I couldn’t taste the sushi as much. I had the chicken hibachi tacos which were everything I love in one place. Other people in the party got a burger and fish sandwich. Fish sandwich was a little dry, needed a sauce but the fries are really addictive as well. Overall we would absolutely go back.
UPDATE 3.25.24 Took part in a sushi rolling class recently. Great experience to not only learn, but to see others learn as well! Original post Best sushi on the Grand Strand! Awesome happy hour with great food specials Regular live entertainment. Both inside and seating. Covered front deck/ patio. Fast, friendly service. Skylar & Laura are great!
Be weary of owners/establishments who bury bad reviews; as of last night there has been one review within 2 weeks and only 6 total in the “2 weeks ago” to “4 weeks ago” range but when there was a one star review because of the owners display of character, it’s suddenly buried under 10 5 star reviews in less than 12 hours. I was apart of a large walk-in group, we checked their website and Google and didn’t see anything about needing reservations for a group over “x” number of people, we also weren’t turned away when saying we had 25 people. We know it can be difficult to accommodate a group that size but we’re in a large tourist destination where groups/families regularly go out together and have not had a problem with it (we’ve been going on this family vacation for over a decade). In the owners previous response to review from another in our party, he said he made “24 of 25 happy” but he probably didn’t notice my family of 5 left before even ordering drinks because we were told by our group they never saw the owner again. The thing that made my group leave was the tone and visible irritation from the owner, and how he was openly talking about how inconvenienced he was by our presence, if he didn’t want the money or that size party then we should have been turned away, plain and simple. I started as a waitress and worked my way up to owning a restaurant and food truck myself, and since I know this will get buried I just hope the owner takes some words to heart. As a waitress, your attitude and demeanor effects tips and livelihood. We know as a big group that we’re used to our size but some restaurants aren’t so we don’t expect anything quickly and honestly usually just end up putting it on one bill (though we do ask to see if it it can be split). While the rest of the group stayed because the tables were set up, they greatly reduced what they would usually order, hundreds of dollars was cut from the bill because they wanted to eat and leave. Tip is usually 30%+, and I personally do 50% because I know how it is; I’ve always welcomed big parties myself because that’s a big number of people to make happy all at once and referrals are everything in the business. In your response you said you had won because you made a majority happy but you didn’t, you had 1/4 of the group leave before ordering and you were left with group who just wanted to eat because they were already there, don’t mistake tolerance for happiness. If your establishment can’t handle that size, make it clear on your website, Google, and menu. If you want to be a spot for just locals and not tourists, make that clear. You as the owner can dictate the crowd you receive but it can be done with kindness and respect. We did hear the waitress was awesome and the food pretty good. I’m sure there will a million excuses as to why our party was the problem but integrity is questionable when reviews are buried and customers don’t feel welcome.
I went for happy hour and their wings were extremely dry and the bacon jalapeño popper eggrolls were bland
