192 Books

A great neighborhood bookstore that has a great and well-curated selection of books. My favorite is that they have an entire table/section of translated works which are often of international acclaim but not to be found many places in the States. Friendly staff. Gorgeous building. Really a wonderful place to stop in.
Great place and great service. They helped me find some amazing books. Also they offered me to wrap the book with a cute tie!
I want to support independent bookstores as much as possible, but the experience here just wasn't it. The staff did not bother greeting us when we entered the store, and were curt when we asked for help. This would've been understandable if they were busy — except the staff were enthusiastic and friendly to the white women who came right after us, proactively making conversation with those customers and asking if they needed anything. Left a bad taste in my mouth. As other reviewers have pointed out, prices here are often higher than elsewhere. A book they listed for $30, I found for less than $20 at another small bookseller. I'd recommend doing a bit of research on titles you're interested in before shopping here. Personally, with so many great indie bookstores in the city, I will never visit 192 again.
A great little bookshop, absent recent bestsellers. If you're interested in literature in translation, art and criticism, poetry or other more high-minded pursuits you'll find plenty to choose from here.
An absolutely adorable and cozy book store. Organized well with some really great books on display that I added to my “to read” list immediately.
