Our family of four (two adults and two teens) booked the Ice Cream Train at a total cost (including tax) of only $12.72 per person. For that price it makes sense to keep expectations low. The ice cream cup was super tiny and the trip was very short. Small children would probably be perfectly happy with the experience, but adults without children might want to pick from the Scenic Railroad's many other (longer) trip options. Nevertheless, even the short trip afforded some spectacular views. FYI, this is not a tour - there was no narration or anyone pointing out any sights. Because I'm familiar with the area, I was able to point out to my family features like the historic churches, the "Skipper's View" bee mural, the Narrows, and Lover's Leap. The "conductor" who took our tickets, Michael, was also happy to share some stories and info when asked. It might be nice if the Railroad offered some printed flyers with that kind of information on it for passengers who want to learn as well as look.

A wonderful ride in coach class. This is the second time I have ridden with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Plenty of parking nearby and when I went in July 2024, construction was occurring in the local historic area. Great things to come. The ticket office is upstairs but make sure you take time to go to the visitor center on the bottom floor. Arrive 30 minutes early. Sit on the right side of the train to get the best views. They did serve snacks on our train yet there are dinner trains I have not ridden on. The Frostburg end of the line and turnaround is a neat town. Make use of your time as you see fit.

It's a nice train ride with some good scenery. The 90 minute layover in Frostburg was a slight disappointment... you have to walk up a big hill into town and not much to see once there. The staff seemed to be nice, with the exception of the lounge car attendant- she was just nasty rude. That's why you get a 1 star rating. Save your money and go ride the Potomac Train in Romney, WV.

Beautiful train ride. The website is bit confusing as far as the layover in Frostburg. So we did not know we could ride the train one way and ride rail bikes back, which we would have loved to do. Definitely will come back to do that. Longe car and table car were very nice food was OK.

Nice enough ride. Some decent scenery. We went in the summer. I imagine that it would be really nice during leaf season. Someone criticized about having to walk up the hill to Frostburg downtown. True enough, it’s a steep hill, but they offer a shuttle bus ride if you need it.
