Washington Dulles Airport Marriott
What people are saying
Convenient location to the airport. Only a 5min free shuttle ride or 15min walk from the terminal. It's a standard airport hotel that gets you in and out quickly. The staff were friendly and courteous and the concierge lounge is open 24 hours. Similar to other airport Marriotts on the east coast this one has a bit dated decor and a bit of wear and tear. Overall good experience.
I received outstanding service from the staff, who were always professional and courteous. I had booked a two-night stay. Unfortunately, housekeeping tried to enter my room even though I had placed a 'do not disturb' sign on the door. As a result, my husband had to rush to get dressed as we were not prepared to receive visitors. Upon waking, I encountered one of the ladies, who I assumed was the lead housekeeper, an older woman. I simply requested a fresh towel, as I had my used one ready for exchange. However, she proceeded to question me regarding my room number and informed me that housekeeping had already visited. I found this inquiry unnecessary and somewhat impolite, as I only required a towel. The restaurant has been a repeat destination for me, and I have consistently encountered a courteous and hospitable staff. The food has also met my expectations. My request for a late check out was not fulfilled. My card stopped working after 11am (i was told 12pm). Although the front desk clerk, a young man, took my card and seemed to process my request the night before, it was not successful, as a red light flashed when I tried to enter the lounge. However, a kind front desk lady assisted me by granting access, which brings me to another topic. Parking. Again, stayed there several times & I assume that was implemented a few months ago. I inquired about the exact start date, to which I was informed it had been that way for a while. $17 a day is a bit steep in my opinion unless I'm provided with a clear explanation for the new cost, particularly in the absence of upgrades or complimentary decent coffee, which is why I requested some while turning in my key, from the lounge. Again, staff are super professional and helpful, although I felt the tall gentleman was simply telling me what I wanted to hear regarding late check-out and availability. As a Bonvoy member, It would be nice if late check-out is around 1pm. I've previously stayed until 2pm at other hotels. Housekeeping should respect guests' wishes not to be disturbed when they knock, without questioning them. During my stay, the hotel was particularly busy due to a chess match tournament, which had an influx of people congested by the elevators. Additionally, the parking fee of almost $40 for 2 nights, seems excessive. I understand the need to adjust prices or make new ones, but a justification for this increase would be nice. Perhaps offering a complimentary coffee could help offset the added expense. The room coffee is usually not tasty nor enough.
The location of this hotel to the airport is convenient but that's about all I can say that's positive. As an Elite member, we went to the lounge where there was a limited selection of soup, potato chips, a salad and we headed out to enjoy a lovely meal locally. Breakfast was the worst complementary breakfast I have ever experienced. There was porridge with some topping but - no spoons. A yogurt with granola and berries. No spoons again. A few over ripe bananas and apples; the coffee pot was EMPTY and the espresso maker wasn't working. Really? The staff here are in serious need of more training and supervision. Plus, it's expensive. Any number of other local hotels have much better services and quick shuttles to get you to the airport on time.
It's okay for an airport hotel. Kinda weird though, I asked the front desk for change to tip the shuttle driver and they told me that I needed to ask the restaurant. I went to the restaurant and ask the bartender and they basic rolled their eyes and said they don't know why the front desk keeps sending people to them for change. The bartender and server gave me change, but had to dig it out of their personal bags where they keep their tips. It was really awkward and I don't know why a business traveler focused hotel would not perform basic front desk functions such as proving small bills as change. Another strange thing about the hotel is that it's been added onto many times over the years and the hallways are all over the place. The layout is pretty confusing. Lounge is pretty good though.
I had to adjust this post. I received a call from Jaime P. From Marriott. I went to speak with her when I returned to the hotel. She is a great ambassador for Marriott. She listened to me did not make any rash decisions and was apologetic. It great to know Marriott has managers that care about your reviews. Thank You Jaime What an absolute horrible place to go if you would like any service or expect anything from the club lounge! The staff could care less about any customer service. This includes the resturant. The front desk could careless if you have an issue or complaint.
