Trapper's Steakhouse
What people are saying
The new executive chef has really transformed this steakhouse. Went in on a Friday night to give the new chef a look see. Initial order took a bit of time, but after that OK. Had to get the prime rib special, not disappointed. My meal flew out of the kitchen before I could get half way through the salad. And I like my food HOT and this was much appreciated. Portions were unreal. I think the prime rib was on the menu at 14oz, but I'm pretty sure mine was 16-18oz. Veggie side was huge as was the baker and enough to feed two people. Good people and Outstanding Cuisine.
The food was horrible. Everyone that ordered steak or prime rib, received raw meat when ordering it between medium to well done. They did remove them off our tickets, because after we sent them back, they still were not cooked enough the second time. We were charged for a complimentary cheesecake that we did not order. We came for my husband's birthday and he was not happy with it at all. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars was our waitress was amazing.
On New Years Eve me and my wife had the special surf and turf dinner at Trappers. We also were there last year for the same dinner. Each year we travel 3 hours to the Star Valley to celebrate New Years. After having a great dinner at Trappers the year before, we were looking forward to a good meal. The quality was not there this year. The prime rib was all fat with very little meat. The lobster was cold when it arrived at the table. The black eyed peas were way over cooked. On the other hand, the salad bar was good and also the bread was great. After the dinner, we were serve a good berry crumble, but the portion was what I assumed one person would enjoy. After paying $150 including a $20 tip, I thought the value was not there. I tipped the waitress because it’s not her fault that the owners went cheap on the food! I don’t leave reviews often, but I had to on this one!
We had the Ultimate French Dip and they were phenomenal. The fresh cut french fries were delicious as well. Our server, Mariah, was attentive and pleasant to talk to. She knew a lot about the history of the restaurant and the area. I'll definitely stop by again.
A great dinner selection, a great steak. A great breakfast selection, they are even able to provide vegan options for those with common allergies. Great customer service. A nice place overall. Will DEFINITELY visit again if/when I pass through Afton again.
