Thrifty Car Rental - Chicago - O'hare International Airport
What people are saying
Would give them a negative rating if possible. I'm not surprised they have such a low rating. There's nothing "thifty" about Thifty car rentals except the people who work there. Their employees are unprofessional and have no idea how to properly do their job. They seem to care very little about practicing effective customer service. Clearly, they have not been properly trained, and it's a surprised they have made and profit at all. These two particular unfortunate employees are a clear issue as they seem to enjoy mocking customers and acting as if they have no care for customers using their service. Additionally, taking your information and charging you an extra 500$ after you have already paid for your rental, then not doing anything to remedy the fraud inflicted on their behalf once you catch the issue. I was more than happy to take my business elsewhere as they suggested to a company that was more money because I'd rather pay for better customer service than the B.S this joke of a company provides!
The queue at the Thrifty counter was not long. They did not try to upsell anything. At first they allocated me a Chevrolet Malibu. I was able to change the car at the counter in the parking garage to a newer Nissan. The Nissan was in superb shape and very clean. Their other cars looked clean as well. Upon return the agent was friendly. I avoided all toll roads. SiriusXM was free in the car. Whenever I went with Avis Budget their cars were dirty and I had to do oil changes with Avis cars twice! But no problem with Thrifty.
Waited for over 45min for our vehicle. Told it would be only 15. Other rental places were moving along but we waited and waited. Good vehicle but the pickup timing threw us totally off schedule!
Thrifty and Alamo owned by Enterprise are scamming customers with toll charges. We setup paybyplate with illinois tollway for the dates we rented the vehicle with exact times. Have proof of payment from tollroads. Not only am I being charged an additional $25 charge for a $1.50 tollway that was setup with getipass during this time. I am having to deal with my cc. I Was billed for 3 additional days when I have proof of video date and time car was returned to Thrifty. Please document everything you can as possible and check your invoices and credit cards because they are scamming customers left and right.
Booked about 3 weeks in advance, and checked in 24 hours ahead of arrival. Promised via email to receive a skip the line link to avoid the line...however only received" your vehicle isn't ready" messages, up to an hour after pick up time. The wait at the desk was long, and moved very slowly with 1-2 people at the desk. We had a family member stay in line and we went to Alamo next door; received a car immediately and $100 less for same size. This is our 2nd recent long wait experience with Thrifty and Dollar - will not use either again.
