The Flicks: Rick's Cafe Americain
What people are saying
I enjoy seeing movies at this small locally owned theatre. They have four small theatres inside. The seats are comfortable. You can buy food and beer or wine from the small inside cafe to take into the theatre to enjoy while you watch the movie. The Flicks shows independent, foreign and art films and sometimes bigger movies. They offer a senior citizen discount. You can rent movies here also.
The chicken spinach lasagna with sliced baguette was delicious, and the serving size was plentiful! The patio is a lovely place, shaded with a portico and decorated with beautiful red geraniums. The servers/hosts are friendly and courteous. You can even wait for your order on the patio and not miss out on a hot and ready meal because they call it out over an intercom.
Maybe the best movie theater i know. Reasonably priced movies. reasonably priced food, and reasonably priced Beer!!! i bought beer and food for me and 3 friends for less than 30 dollars. it’s also really cute and has a nice outside patio area. support ya local movie theaters!!
It doesn't seem like this theater has a policy in place to prevent late arrivals. My screening was at 4:20, which meant the movie started around 4:30, and someone showed up ten minutes later. This individual was joined by someone else twenty minutes after that. Since there is nothing separating the auditorium from a brightly lit adjoining room, each late arrival meant the entire auditorium was flooded with light. They then proceeded to talk through the remainder of the movie, which isn't the basis for this review, but further underscores their discourteousness. I have to wonder how this was allowed to happen. Either they were able to buy tickets to a movie that was already underway, which shouldn't happen, or they bought them earlier and the ticket taker outside the auditorium still allowed them in, or perhaps was no longer present, neither of which should happen. I hope someone who works for the theater reads this and finds a way to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.
I really want to love Rick's but the last couple times I've gone, the seats were just too uncomfortable and the theater was absolutely freezing. The smaller theaters are so uncomfortable and the screen really isn't that much bigger than my TV. Food is great. The people are lovely. They serve drinks. But if you have any kind of back problem or leg pain it will be exacerbated after seeing a two hour film.
