Super 8 by Wyndham Louisville Airport
What people are saying
Absolutely worse hotel experience I've ever had, and I am over 50 yrs old. Room was dirty with hair on bed and shower. Pillow cases were left on the bed. Called the front desk, and they switched me to another room. I asked to be compensated for inconvenient of having to pack everything up and moved to another room. The manager refused to provide any compensation. Arguing with me with no regards for customers service. This hotel is the biggest joke. DO NOT STAY HERE!
I paid the security deposit up on checking in. 3 days later upon checking out a- different staff member was on duty and wanted to question whether or not I paid a security deposit. Due to the fact the previous staff member who checked me in did not provide a receipt, I was going to have trouble getting my security deposit refunded. I felt safe during my stay and although my room had no fridge, I was offered to put my food items in the kitchen area downstairs. The staff was accommodating with clean sheets and linen and personal care items. My room was exceptionally clean. No sight of bed bugs or roaches as others have mentioned. But please ask for and retain copies of your receipts in case of any issues.
Location was ok, everything else a disaster! 1st room soon as we turned lights on seen about half a dozen roaches scatter. Bath tub was disgusting so a perfect lil home for the roaches that were in there. Immediately requested a different room. Didn’t spot any roaches in this room but it smelt awful, again tub was pretty bad no plug, faucet sticking about 3 inches out of the wall no bulb in the one lamp, walls were filthy and there was food in the air conditioner, the pillows (if that’s what you call them) were small flat and clumpy and they only provided 2 so after an hour we were able to obtain 2 more awful pillows! Seriously super 8 time for an overhaul, pest control is needed and major repairs and please replace bedding and pillows! Also breakfast? Couldn’t make toast or a waffle as the power kept going out, aside from those you could have a yogurt and a banana or some cereal.
Absolutely disgusting. If you like to feel you're in prison except with the smell of dog feces and wet laundry sitting out for months this is the place for you. We ended up in 2 rooms that night...First room, filled with bugs, not just a few, i mean the walls looked like they were moving. Second room..Window broken and no lock, screen gone. Receptacles broken and unsafe. Trust me, plug something in and see what happens. Manager on duty that night was actually annoyed i asked for another room because i didn't want my family to sleep with bugs. Service and speaking English not his strong suit obviously...actually education might have escaped his life at some point as well. This motel or whatever it is, should not be occupied by any form of human or animal. Please take my word for it. Disgusting, unsafe, bug-ridden, disease carrying, un-friendly and horrible. DO NOT STAY HERE. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.
This hotel is an exquisite example of "you get what you pay for." I've stayed in $30 / night motels that have looked about 10 times better than this Super 8. I'm assuming the lowered quality of the property (without a proportionate drop in price) is due to how close it is located to the airport ("location, location, location!" as they say). The $30 / night motels might have had older furniture or appliances, but everything worked, was clean, and was installed properly. Not so, in this case. All the furniture, flooring, and fixtures looked like they'd come from a garage sale or were salvaged from a condemned hotel that was about to be torn down. Even the pen and notepad that were next to the phone looked like someone had dug them out of the trash after they had been used by several previous guests. I ended up staying in two different rooms. I had called previously to ask whether or not the rooms had mini-fridges. I was told that they did. Great! This meant that I could bring things with me that I wanted to keep cool in the Louisville summer heat (candy bars, sodas, etc.) leave them in the fridge. Yet, when I get to my first room, there's no fridge. Apparently, it's a gamble as to whether or not you'll get a mini-fridge in your room for some reason. So they would have to play "musical fridges" as guests requested them. This seems highly inefficient compared to simply making sure every room has all the same appliances. When I asked the front desk about it, they said they would have one brought to my room. I filled my sink with ice from the ice machine and placed my items in there to keep them cool. I confirmed with the front desk staff that a fridge was to be delivered to my room as I left at around 8:30 a.m. the next morning. They confirmed. I arrived back at the hotel for the night at about 10:30 p.m. Still no fridge. I'm no maintenance expert, but I've moved many a full-size refrigerator in my life and even that (even with just me and a dolly) does not take more than 13 hours to do. Their solution? Move me to a room that has a mini-fridge in already. *sigh* Fine. I move to the new room (a roach was crawling on my mattress as I was packing up, which is what every hotel guest loves to see) and it's just as rough-looking as the first one. The sink had low water pressure and no hot water. The light bulb in the desk lamp flickered until it died, so I had to go to the front desk to get that replaced. But I was in town mainly on business and knew I wouldn't be spending a lot of time in my room. So, for me, this was just a couple of steps shy of acceptable for such a low price. For someone on vacation, the condition of the accommodations might have been grounds for a refund. The staff was friendly, I got a (clean?) bed, a place to shower, and no one stole my stuff. The basics were covered, I suppose. But if you're looking for what many people would consider a "standard" hotel room and experience (Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, etc.), please don't come to this hotel with that expectation. You'll just be setting yourself up for disappointment.
