Stoney Demonstration Forest Hunter Parking Lot
What people are saying
The parking area was locked, so I parked on the side of the road. The main trail has a crushed rock surface. Not much to see during the winter or early spring, will have to return later in the year.
didnt venture far enough to see the full trail, but did walk enough to realize i wore the wrong shoes for walking on jagged gravel. plan for boots or think soled shoes because thin soled walkers or leisure shoes will have you suffering each step on the gravel path. i'd prefer compacted dirt but i suppose the gravel helps keep the mud away & maybe reduces mosquitos a little. still, i liked it- i'm a fan of any local nature preserve with trails open to the public. good use and protection of our natural resources.
The parking lot is never open. The property is nice but I never see deer here. Also it is a long walk from the back of the property to drag a deer.
Good for walks. Watch for spider webs on the trail that will hit your face.
Cool hunting spot for chicken of the woods.
