I couldn't believe how good pork chops big lima beans and cabbage tasted together
Good food, great service and fast. Whenever any employee walked by they made sure to check on us and ask us if we need anything, that is great service from the restaurant as a whole rather than on one individual server. The place was well kept and clean and everyone was friendly and hospitable. Food came out quick and was delicious, my Omelette was huge! Great breakfast joint to try out.
The hash brown patties were overcooked and extremely greasy. The smoked sausage was so overcooked it was crunchy, even the biscuits were burnt. The veggies in the omelette were huge chunks. The food was barely lukewarm when it was served. The over easy eggs were perfect and were hot. They were the only thing that was warm. The server was great. Attentive and friendly
This was our first time having breakfast. Everything was great! Some kind person even had paid for our meal! Food was delicious!!
I'm not someone that likes giving a place 3 stars, but im just struggling with this place. I've eaten here multiple times in the past couple of years and it's OK on good days and kind of disappointing on bad days. It's 100% classic southern cooking like a mom/grandma would make, served cafeteria style. This particular matriarchal figure is the kind that's been stuck at home with little access to the outside world in the form of new culinary experiences and has the captive audience of her husband and children who have little choice but to eat whatever she's been cooking for the last 20 years. That would be fine if those staples were perfected, but I got a plate on the last visit where it didn't even appear the 2 porkchops on the plate had been cooked the same or at the same time. The fried okra had been fried to a crisp and the mashed potatoes were the only thing good enough to finish. To add insult to injury: it was a $12 meal with a drink. King's restaurant (2 locations in town) serves the same type food, more consistently, and for less money (especially if it's the daily special). I only left 3 stars because I have had decent meals before, but nothing that drives me to keep going. The brightest spot in here is the deserts on ice at the beginning of the line, as those are always on point. I do think they open ridiculously early for breakfast, so it may be stronger if you want a country-style breakfast at 5am. It's been a few years since I've tried that.
