That might have been the best peach cobbler I've ever had. The smoked brisket was pretty good too. Their potato salad was a bit too sweet and more like mashed potatoes than I like but it was ok. Good iced tea and great service. Did I mention the peach cobbler. Man it was great.
Asked for Senior Plate, thinking it would be less expensive...WRONG! One frugal serving meat, large tea, one serving veggies plus cornbread...19 dollars and 57 cents! That is a "senior discounted" lunch? What would a "Regular" plate have cost this 71 year old working man? The food was excellent, but someone needs to rethink how they are keeping seniors from being able to eat good, nutritious meals on a regular basis. That didn't even include a dessert, and second servings of veggies was not allowed, which causes people to get really large servings of vegetables that they might not have eaten. I think there would be less waste if they let people go back for seconds on vegetables. 12.50 plus tax would have been more reasonable for what I got and would enable a LOT more people to afford to eat there. 1:15 and there were only FOUR people eating there, including myself!
We’ve been eating at Sharon’s BBQ for years when we come to Abilene. Tonight was a real disappointment! Both of our brisket orders were 1/3 fat, which we do not eat. If you order water, be prepared to purchase a cup ($1.80 for a small cup—ridiculous!). The sides were good, as usual, especially the potato salad (very creamy) and the corn. Peach cobbler was great but the blackberry cobbler was dry.
Upon arriving at Sharon's BBQ in Abilene, Texas, I was greeted by a bustling parking lot, hinting at the culinary delights within. To my immense pleasure, I discovered an unparalleled barbecue experience, surpassing any I've encountered in Texas or beyond. Engaging with the affable cashier and, presumably, the owner, their commitment to excellence echoed in the sublime barbecue we ordered. While initially deeming it a tad pricey, the quality justified the cost, offering generous portions of delectable potato, coleslaw, and an unforgettable jalapeno cornbread that beckons one to purchase an entire pan. Opting for sausage with burnt rib tips proved a revelation, a journey to barbecue nirvana that left me in awe, at 50 years old and after traversing the culinary landscapes of various cities and states, declaring Sharon's BBQ a pinnacle of Texas barbecue mastery. Should you chance upon my review, do not miss the opportunity to savor the authentic taste of Southern barbecue, meticulously crafted in the true Texas tradition at Sharon's. And, of course, indulge in the jalapeno corn – a culinary marvel worthy of buckets.
We have usually enjoyed Sharon’s BBQ. We went through the drive thru and ordered a bowl of chopped brisket and beans (2 orders). I know brisket has some amount of fat. However, we got a lot of fat on this order. 25 bucks for that! Pretty hard to swallow…literally.
