Everything was going well at the ER up to the point when I was on the phone with my fiance and my fiance heard this the nurse threatened me that she was going to rip the phone out of my hands exact words because she thought he was upsetting me. When the nurse came back in I tried to explain to her that I was in a lot of pain and that is why I sounded so upset and at my fiance was actually helping me calm down and I kindly asked her please do not threaten me like that again because that just made things a lot worse and has made me fearful my fiance was on the phone through all of this and she was very nasty flew up her hands at me walked out of the room slam the curtain shot and then slam the door. Later on I talked to the house floor nurse and she said well the nurse has had a hard day I said that is no excuse to treat a patient like that you never take it out on your patience and as we were getting ready to leave the other nurse came in slammed the phone down rip off monitor stickers violently and I have severe PTSD and that made me jump very badly I also have other conditions and told her I needed a wheelchair and she told me a master manipulator and was very abusive to me. When she got me out to the entry doors to exit the hospital she kicked the foot of the wheelchair. No one ever go to the hospital they are very incompetent and do not care about their patients. No one should ever be treated this way. My fiance and I are both very traumatized. She was verbally abusive and physically abusive. Sorry about the long run I needed to let everyone know what happens at this hospital.

If you want to die I recommend this place. if you do not want to die I would not go to this hospital take the risk and go to sioux falls. The doctors at this place do not listen to how they're patients are feeling. The doctors tell the patients how the patients are feeling. This is the worst hospital ever. The doctors are horrible. The nurses are ok.

The doctors and nursing staff are nice folks, however the food staff is very unprofessional. The night we were there my mother ordered her food at 4 pm we waited about 6 pm we asked when the food was too arrive. At 7 pm they told us there was a glitch in the system, no one got food. But we could get her a cold sandwich and bowl off soup. My mother hasn't eaten since the day before, that was unacceptable. They need new food staff.

Dr Shaeffer's schedulers need to listen to where the patient wants their service done. So, they don't do a prep for nothing and end up at the wrong place wasting time for so many people. A nursed laughed when I called to point this out. It's a real issue!

My grandma arrived at the ER yesterday with symptoms of a stroke. After doing some testing, they determined there was "nothing wrong" with her (because the tests said so) and sent her home, EVEN THOUGH her symptoms were still indicative of a stroke. When my family asked what they should do if her blood pressure didn't come down, one of the staff members looked at them and said "I don't get paid enough to answer that question." My sister and mom ended up driving her to the ER in Sioux Falls where they ran more tests determining she indeed *was* having a stroke. She's been admitted to Sanford and is being treated with the highest level of care there. This is blatant negligence on the part of Prairie Lakes ER. As you know, time is a matter of life and death to someone who is having a stroke. Yet they were comfortable sending her home with stroke symptoms? Unbelievable. DO NOT go to this ER if you want competent care.
