What people are saying
We have been using our 30-ft (9 metre) dome for our planetarium operation in the Canadian Rockies for more than 3 years of continuous business outside (including 2 VERY cold winters) and couldn't be happier with it. Customer service is excellent - Robert and folks answer every one of our weird/specific questions in a timely and detailed manner. Can not recommend these guys enough for amazing event or permanent structures.
I got a 30ft glamping dome from Pacific Domes almost two years ago and I have to say my overall experience in every aspect has been not only an emotional disappointment but a costly one in terms of money and time. Customer service issues aside, PD has made so many errors that have cost me so much additional money that it's hard to even tally the list for the purposes of this review. I will say that, with each error they've made, they have done their best to quickly rectify the situation with replacements, but "quick replacements" (meaning a few weeks) mean wasted time as my dome is located far from my home and requires an airplane and a full day to get to. In addition to that, most of their errors have cost me staff-time. Since most dome-work is a multi-person activity, I've had to enlist help for every bit of installation and many times this hired work has ground to a halt due to PD's errors of various types (more on these below)--causing me lost productivity and leaving me to foot the bill for PD's mistakes. Some items of feedback for the guys at PD would be 1) improve quality control and stop it with (the many) small mistakes that end up costing customers time and money, 2) enhance the detail of the manual so that your customers can avoid pitfalls that cause frustration and lost time/money, 3) the "dwell" market is very different from the "event" market--if selling to individuals, the knowledgeable staff at PD needs to educate buyers on the limitations and problems with domes (uninsulated, water problems), 4) PD needs to inform customers that, while these domes are sold as kits, they are far from turn-key. The door installation, for example, is a serious interface that requires a specialized craftsman to square the door frame with the irregular dome attachment bits. I conclusion, now that I'm aware of the limitations of the dome and know exactly what to expect, if I want any more domes in the future, I will be ordering from PD as they have shown commitment through what became a pretty terrible and overly costly process. The dome has been a struggle with a lot of missed expectations, but now that I know exactly how to approach and mitigate the shortcomings in the manual, build, insulation and doorway, future domes aren't off limits.
Treated me very well, very nice people working there. All of them are extremely friendly and work very hard. They were very joyful people and they seem to be having a blast. I was surprised by have happy they all were. A great company, would recommend.
I love their homes, I only visited the website so I don't have any fun pictures. Call them and get a quote they're totally friendly!
Conflict of interest for me to review this place, but regardless it's a great company! Pacific Domes website will give you more information than I could ever hope to review for you, but you can also call or stop by for a little peek around the production facility. A well established small business (30 years and counting) that handles everything from your shoestring budget shelter or playground to your high-end clientele event complexes, and whose associates are active in the local community in a meaningful way beyond their station at the business.
