I really love this area. It’s nice and close in which has pluses and minuses. Love taking trails up to the top. Great views and nice workout. Beautiful trails. Love the ability to bring our leashed pups. Therein lies the reason for only three stars. Our pups always leashed (too much to chase) really don’t like being run up upon by uncontrolled off leash dogs. It says at the beginning of the trails “please keep dogs on leash”. It’s also a city of Ashland law. Why do some/many think it doesn’t apply to their “oh he’s friendly” dog?
If straight up a mountain at 45° for 1 mile is your thing, you've arrived! ???♀️ It was beautiful and worth it?
Great trail, over 1,000 feet of elevation gain over 3.3 miles.
My favorite place to hike in Ashland. 20 minutes in and you could be miles away from civilization, It's so secluded and quiet. You can do a short hike 20 mins in and 20 mins out with kids, or you can explore for hours!
I would maybe rate this trail as a 4, just because some of the signage was a bit confusing. However, this was one of the best hikes ever because there is a friendly trail dog named Heath who roams around. Today, he chose us as his hiking companions as he guided us through our travels. If you are lucky enough to meet Heath, know that he has a strong affinity for pinecones and playing fetch with them.
