Monadnock Inn
What people are saying
I spent 3 nights & 4 days the weekend before Mothers Day to visit my Son. What a disappointing stay. No TV. Trash and dirt throughout the room. Filthy bathroom. No staff. No dining. I was told to take a picture of the menu from the restaurant down the road. My bill for this room was over $500.00. Shame on me for paying in advance. I specifically picked this INN for convenience of being close and not have to drive, considering it was a 7 hour ride to get there. Do not waste your time or money. They placed an envelope for a tip, instead I left a note regarding the above. No one attempted to reach out to me regarding any of these matters, which tells me they don't care. Very expensive lesson. So just beware. Also, be aware of the critters that are crawling in the walls. I put 1 star only because it would not let me post review.
I don’t know where to begin…. No one at front desk upon arrival with a phone number to call in a “no reception area.” Brought up to room…can’t find your key, I’ll have to go to hardware store to get one… what??? The pull out couch didn’t pull out, the room was disgusting…dust, nasty conditions… like a transient motel. No effort has been made to make this hole accommodating… DO NOT STAY Here! Creepiness personified 🤡
On our third visit to the monadnock in we rented a nicer more expensive room. Upon check in we were told that the room we rented was not available. We were given a lesser room for the same money. We were disappointed but didn’t want to make an issue of it. The room we were given was ok until I wanted to use the tub. It had pubic hair and debris clinging to it. My husband tried to clean it but because the drain was not properly working the crud would not wash down. I was not feeling well and we were so disgusted, at this point we left. I placed a note explaining our departure at about 7:30 on a bureau. An hour later my husband left a message with the inn explaining that we had gone and we’re not staying the night. Since it is customary to pay at check out we were astonished to learn that they had charged our debit using past stay information. They charged us!! Even tho we notified them in writing and by phone we were not staying the night and the reasons why. I placed another call asking them to reverse the charge but they refuse!
I'll give a 3 overall because the people were very nice. Rooms were very dated which I could live with for the most part. But the shower was pretty bad
I booked our stay online a few nights before going to hike Mt. Monadnock. I read the reviews the next day and got nervous and almost walked away from it. I am more than glad that I didn't and also wonder what kind of people made those reviews. We have stayed at numerous motels/hotels while travelling throughout the years where we paid more than double the price of staying here. The Monadnock Inn was across the board my favorite out of all of them. I thought it was a very pleasant and the whole place was quite lovely and adorable. We stayed in "Mitchell's Room" (which it states on the Website is the smallest room.) It was the perfect size for two people. The bed was very soft and comfortable along with the bedding which smelled and looked freshly laundered. The shower/personal bathroom was directly across the hall, which I knew was not in the room ahead of time (I believe this is the only room that does not have a bathroom in the room), was also very clean and fully stocked with amenities. The water pressure and heating was impressive. The location was extremely convenient as a Golf Club with a restaurant and bar is located two minutes away and is on your way out of Monadnock State Park. There is also a movie theater and a convenient store/gas station as well as a variety of other specialty stores about a mile away in downtown Jaffrey. The stay was very enjoyable. I have zero complaints, only many compliments. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.
