My best friend and I just spent three nights at the Hewing, exploring Minneapolis. We interacted with over a dozen staff during our stay, including the front desk, housekeeping, bartenders and wait staff. Everyone was eager to assist and very friendly. The hotel itself is a perfect example of relaxed luxury. It looks exactly like it does in the photos. Everything was as perfect as it gets, from the central location of the hotel, to the friendly and helpful staff, to the impeccably clean and well appointed hotel room to the amazing views from the rooftop lounge. The Hewing has found that perfect balance between cozy and splendor. When we come back to Minneapolis, we will definitely be staying at the Hewing. Thank you so much for providing such a perfect experience.

We had such great expectations for this hotel. It’s in a wonderful location, heart of north loop. Rooms were rather spacious and clean. The rooftop lounge and bar downstairs were lively. But I have to be honest I won’t be visiting this establishment anymore. Our second day, we picked up our car from valet and it seemed like one of my phone chargers were missing. I packed one for the room but noticed the one on my car was gone. We asked valet if they mistakenly took and the gentleman said there is a night shift he will have to ask. Once we met with that group, they told us our car was not locked in their lot and someone went into our car and took our things. I was so shocked but I remember someone here also posted a review. They ended up giving us money to reimburse for the missing items in the car and also comped our valet for 3 nights. Though I appreciated the comped valet, it seems very sketchy that this hotel has had this happen in the past, makes me question the honesty of the valet. Lastly, there is a rooftop pool but it’s only for adults 21+ from 11a-close. That was not publicly shared on their site and one of the main reasons we wanted to stay at the hotel with our 3 yr old son. I would just stay for drinks and the vibe but wouldn’t stay at this establishment again.

Incredibly kind staff went above and beyond to help us out during the Delta/Crowdstrike disaster in July 2024. Hotel is in a fantastic location, and is stylish with good amenities and comfortable rooms. The restaurant is great, as is the bar.

I checked in with my 4.5 year old and learned the rooftop “pool” area (which is a hot tub) does not allow children from 11am-midnight. They can go from 7-11am, which fine, I understand liquor laws. But then the woman at the front desk said “yeah this isn’t really a kid friendly hotel.” It’s definitely a hip, young professional crowd, which honestly is more what we were after, not a kid palace. I just thought it might be nice to kick it on the rooftop with a cocktail and a well behaved kid. We proceeded to enjoy a chefs tasting menu over 2 hours along with our child, and it was our 10 year anniversary. Considering they “allow” children and dogs I didn’t appreciate that attitude.

Cool old building. Rooftop pool, sauna, etc. nice restaurant. Valet parking $52/day. Pool table. Great location downtown. Great staff, particularly Sylvester in facilities. The attention to detail he shows is remarkable. Hope his niece gets better.
