I read reviews but figured it couldn’t be that bad. We were traveling for vacation and we weren’t in a rush. We landed in the afternoon from NY with 2 young kids. We were out of the airport and ready to retrieve our car but I decided to call them to let them know we were on our way. I’m so thankful that I did. The guy says that they didn’t have cars at the moment. This was at 12:30 and they close at 2:00. I said okay, I have a reservation, I’m coming in from across the country and there is no car? I even said I’d go to the location where the car was but he said they didn’t have any and I’d gave to go on a waitlist. He said they overbook. If that’s the case, they should call people and let them know. I asked to speak with the manager, Art, who was supposed to call me back. That never happened. I travel a lot and have never experienced this before. This is poor business management and poor customer service. I’m thankful that I was able to get a rental from Alamo the next day.
DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE. They will give your car away even if you show up on time. Do not rent a car from here. STAY AWAY. Sorry Bob. We won't ever be using Hertz again. The experience we had along with the other customers that experienced the same thing is a humanitarian shame. No one should feel like that after making a reservation 4 months ahead of time. Don't overbook your rental cars. Honor reservations, and you won't have people waiting for 4 days to get a car. Will be reporting this Hertz to the BBB.
I can't imagine having had a better experience: 1) Shuttle to the Marriott was there, waiting when we walked out of LAX 2) One person was in line in front of us (don't remember when the last time was that happened...) 3) Artekus was GREAT to talk with. He was very helpful and polite. When he saw the family and our luggage, he offered a free upgrade. 4) No problems with the car 5) Return was SUPER easy - No line whatsoever, which allowed us to chit chat with Artekus again. Transaction could NOT have gone any smoother. Yes, the shuttle added about 10 min to our travel plans, but NO LINE, SAVINGS, and EXCELLENT Service... and the kids LOVED the shuttle rides too... 10 billion gazillion stars! Thank you Artekus!!
We made a reservation back in September 2019, but on arrival on December 28th we were told there were no cars available for us. We arrived slightly earlier of our scheduled pickup time but we were put on a waiting list, because Hertz had over booked. The Hertz counter at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, said we had to wait until other rental cars were returned before a car would became available. We waited for 4hrs at the counter until it closed early at 2pm, with a bunch of other clients in the same situation. Our reservation was not honoured and we were given no other alternatives, they said we could come back tomorrow, but there was still no guarantee they would have a car for us. Later that day I cancelled my reservation and had to pay much higher prices with a last minute Turo rental. Never again with Hertz.. you have lost a customer for life! ... a note to you Bob. If you were really concerned you wouldn't copy and paste the same response to all these negative reviews. Too little too late! You and Hertz have to up your game!
