I should’ve read the reviews before to book. This is the worst rental car experience in my whole life. This people didn’t even have cars when we got there. There was around 20 people waiting for cars and they ended up giving us an electric car for a business drive to Orlando. With half tank. The battery of this car needed to be charged every half an hour and charging it took 45 min each time. A regular trip from 3h ended up in 6. Customer service in Orlando were even worst, when we try to switch the car for the drive back. After all this, they tried to charged me a late fees, other bunch of extra fees and Gas 3 TIMES EXPENSIVE THAN AGREED. After a long discussion they ended up “removing the charges” and they gave me a receipt with the charged removed. Next day they charged again. This is the worst car rental you can ever imagine.

30 people in front of me and about 40 behind me i hanger already been waiting 40 minutes. It was not worth the little bit that i saved. Never again. Now they have 3 cashiers. They really gotta get out together a lot of people complaining in line. Because it is not moving. I hope after i pick my car up i have better luck with them. Okay so I get home I get my bill for a $180 car rental my credit card was charged over $1,000 they tried charging me for a cleaning the car was filthy it hadn't been clean before I picked it up and then they charged me $89 for some place in Mount Holly New Jersey to make the reservation this company are a bunch of scammers do not use budget Thrift y or whatever they are using as their name that day they really need a lot of help

What terrible service! waited over 1 hr in line for our reserved & prepaid in full car. Then went to "pick up"the car in the parking garage...waited 30 mins here only to have the rep say, "oh, you JUST give your ticket to the fellows to go get your car." and the rep was standing in the next window saw a long long of people waiting (as were Instructed) for 30 mins... Common sense and customer service dead in America! SMH. update #1: all these people STILL waiting in the garage to pick up their car! going on 2+ hrs! update #2: great, Thrifty doesn't have enough cars so waiting for cars to be returned, wash/vacuum. Love spending my vacation waiting 3 hrs for a prepaid car! update #3: time 1:33pm. got here at 11am. got our car but guess what? Gas is on E (Empty)! Owner's reply: not by choice to write a review. no one here cares so had to write a review. apologies doesn't cut it. Off all the Thrifty experience at other locations, Fort Lauderdale is the worst. We continue to wait for a car with a full tank. Unbelievable!

I waited 45 minutes in the FIRST line for Thrifty/Dollar. We were told to check-in on the app to expedite the process. Once I got to the counter, I was asked for all my information again like they hadn’t processed my check-in. It seems the only thing I did was keep them from having to enter my phone number and email address. Frustrating! Why force photos of drivers license and credit card entry if you’re just going to require it at the counter. Who designed this BROKEN system? Tokenize the card with check-in and then perform a full dollar authorization at the counter. And while you’re at it, show the agent the selfie I had to take in line so they don’t need my drivers license again. Once I got through the first line, I encountered the SECOND line … because why assign a vehicle or spot at the counter inside, right!? So there are people running around assigning cars on the fly based on the vehicle size you reserved. There seems to be no inventory control being performed (at all). 25 minutes later (in the second line), I had a car that had been washed on the outside but hadn’t been cleaned on the inside. How do I know that you might ask? Easy. There was a dirty snot rag in the cup holder, greasy finger prints on the passenger side dash, and splashed coffee on the inside of the drivers side windshield. That’s right, not the door … the windshield. I guess that’s fine if you don’t have a reason to SEE where you are going. So we can add process controls and quality checks to the list of things that aren’t happening too. At the checkout gate, the process repeats and the agent actually has to open the drivers side door to scan it!? Why isn’t there an interior sticker that can be scanned through the windshield from the outside? I also had to ask for a spray bottle and paper towels at the exit booth to wipe it clean (which I did myself). To his credit, the gentleman that was staffing the booth was great … but why does Thrifty/Dollar want to make that job hard? And don’t get me started on the per day fee for a transponder for tolls. The fees are outrageous. Most other companies charge you a flat fee once a day IF you use it (plus the tolls obviously). Up to $105 per day with a $15 fee PER toll plus the toll itself. OMG! This is all fixable with investment in people, technology, processes, and training … but only IF the company cares about the customer experience. I could sketch out what’s required on paper after one interaction and yet, clearly, no one has done that within the company. Let a Throfty/Dollar VP try to rent a car at the FTL airport location just once. That individual would lose their mind just like all of the 30+ customers in front of me today. In summary … no … just no. The worst experience I have ever had trying to pick up a car I reserved in advance (not the same day). Note: It is the tail end of Spring Break, but this just serves to shine a spotlight on fundamental problems that already exist at this location.

The name Thrifty suggests savings on rentals, but it's the complete opposite. They place higher holds on your card, charge more for tolls and prepaid gas compared to Alamo. I received a much better vehicle from Alamo, not to mention the Thrifty car had a check engine light on. They didn't even apologize, they went to verify I wasnt lying about the check engine before they even offered me a refund. Thrifty will nickel and dime you, don't do it. Travel Tip: Go to Alamo in this airport and use their kiosk to self check in quickly. The kiosks are buggy and slow, but not as slow at the Thifty line. I'm talking 10 minutes versus 40 minutes.
