Had booked a rental car via Expedia - economy manager's special, and got a really nice Nissan Sentra - it had maybe a thousand miles on it. No issues any time during the trip. Got there around half an hour before my scheduled start time, and the car was ready for me. The process at the counter was quick and easy, and the staff was friendly. You need to take the rental car shuttle to and from the airport. After dropping the car off, me and all the other passengers had a 10-minute delay because the bus driver forgot the clicker to open the gate. I didn't have a flight, so it didn't bother me, but could have been tricky if I was running close to my departure time for a flight from IAD.

NO ELECTRIC CARS ANYMORE!!!??? (See my comments below)* ⭕️ Total experience rating: 5/10 WHAT THEY COMPENSATED….. 🚗 My reservation: Hyundai Sonata hybrid ⏰ Days: 10 days 💰 Total cost: $1778.70 Experience rating: 8/10 Great car, smooth, drives well, auto steering, and driving safety features included. Love the hybrid cross feature to save on gas. Great car for a rental. WHAT I RESERVED 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE…. 🚗 My reservation: Tesla Model 3 ⏰ Days: 10 days 💰 Total cost: $1778.70 THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER ELECTRIC VEHICLE TO COMPENSATE FOR THEIR LACK OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT & SATISFACTION!!?? Lastly my reservation with Hertz before this one also went pretty poorly, and the reservation was NOT HONORED IN THE APP (according to their policies etc etc, they cannot add points nor record any previous reservations on my Mobile app, as to check in/pre-check in early for upcoming reservations, etc.). So overall, my experience has been poor with Hertz. Are they a bad company: NO Do they deliver 100% to the customer: NO Are they reaching the bare minimum for the customer: YES So, overall take what you will and utilize the company you want, but I will not be using Hertz, anymore.

Normally I used Sixt but they don’t have the vehicle I preferred. Try Hertz for the first time..the price is perfect! Wanted the minivan to unavailability but decided to go with the large SUV (Nissan?) the day of rental the pick up was a breeze, fast, straight forward and pleasant! Got a different car at pick up. Actually a brand new Hyundai Palisades Fits 5-6 passengers comfortably! Get the job done, excellent AC for summer, brand new tires for the rain! Perfect!!! The return at 4am was beyond easy! Love it!

Sadly, this location did not live up to my expectations. Booked a sedan knowing I would be staying in a city hotel with a tight underground parking garage; the only vehicle they had left on arrival was a very large pickup which was not suited to my requirements. Travelled 60” to get there and left without a car for another 60” ride back to the hotel. The only options presented were to wait and see if someone returns a car with an unspecified timeframe, or to take the large pickup and return it in my own time the next day to exchange it (which didn’t solve the problem of trying to park it for the night). Staff were friendly enough, but Hertz IAD can certainly do better by their members even if it involves calling/emailing and checking to see if this ridiculously large vehicle is ok for you to take.

Fraud Alert - Check your receipts as you check out. I made an online reservation and I did NOT elect the “fuel package” and I have an email confirming it. I was never asked by the agent at the counter or the agent at the booth if I’d like the package. The next day, the email rental agreement had the $99 package added. Also the fuel tank was only 3/4 full. I have to assume agents are commissioned for upselling packages, they are sneaking on fees to unsuspecting travelers.
