It’s a kiosk in the Burbank Airport like any other. A breakfast burrito and water bottle is like $26, which is an affront to your human dignity. But the real sin is that this place has a mandatory tip on its card reader. For the wispy-mustached teenage boy who rings you up. The tip starts at like 22% and the options go up to 30%. So after paying $26 for a terrible burrito and Aquafina, Guy Fieri expects me to tip the guy manning the cash register… but for what? Tipping is for providing a custom service - a haircut, waiting a table, tending a bar. Ringing up a burrito doesn’t serve me. It serves Guy Fieri. Why am I being asked to tip? This place is everything wrong with the world. One star because it technically does serve food.

The airport grab and go kiosks are not supposed to be a place where you may have a memorable experience. But that changed for me today while transiting through Burbank airport. Looking around through very few options at this airport, there was not much. I decided to get a pre-packaged sandwich from Guy’s Sammich Joint, but unfortunately they didn’t have any vegetarian options, so I picked a bag of chips. That’s when I met Carla, who manages and runs the kiosk location. She recommended that I can get a vegetarian pizza at Wolfgang Puck, and even recommended some toppings that are not on their menu. I was appreciative that she made that suggestion even though it may have made me not to buy the chips. While waiting for my next flight I noticed that a young kid was really in a bad mood, throwing tantrums. All eyes were on that kid and his parents, making them more conscious. But then Carla came around with something to eat for that kid. She talked to him affectionately and the kid was suddenly happy and smiling. I saw Carla being so gentle and polite with all the customers. Her demeanor was very professional and very impressionable. Carla is one person in today’s world who we want to see more and more, when people are complaining about everything, and customer service at stores and eateries. She is the change we all went to see. Go, Carla!

1 Star off for prices, as others have noted - breakfast burrito $18. (cheaper than the other restaurant). Sandwiches are pretty big. Service was great, Food was fresh. Good selection.

Sandwich’s are smaller than my hand, taste bad, and are extremely over priced. It was over $28 for an Italian sub and a small orange juice. And they asked for a tip which I declined because you grab everything yourself. Outrageous. I can’t believe a place like this is allowed to sell food.

Just don’t. This sandwich stand is located very strategically in the airport terminal to target passengers who’re in a hurry and hoping to grab a decent bite to go. Their sandwiches are WAY OVERPRICED, dry, flavorless, and boring. Please save your money.
