Grant Summit Cabins
What people are saying
I had a pretty bad experience here. My family had been to the exact same cabin several years ago and had a great visit. I planned this visit to celebrate my 50th birthday. After driving six hours to get here I was very disappointed to find the hot tub in very disgusting condition. There were several bugs in the water as well as several human hairs. The water was murky and the area where the filter is smelled like sulfur. This was shocking to me because at my previous visit the hot tub was pristine. When the owners came out to drain the water they were questioning me about how I removed the cover (I was EXTREMELY careful removing the cover because they have long paragraphs about charging customers if any damage happens to the cover) and asking if I cut the power (I did not and wouldn’t even know how to do that). There was a small faded sign that showed how to remove the cover but I didn’t see it because I was focused on how bad the tub was. I was actually thinking they would apologize for the disgusting condition of the tub. I thought they would be embarrassed. Instead, they were rude and were verbally attacking me, the customer. I expressed concern about the filter and the lady said she changed the filter personally the same morning, but she also said that she just got back from a difficult camping trip with children??? I decided to leave out of fear they would charge me falsely for breaking some rule or property. The only bright note was the apology I received from one of the owners while packing our belongings to leave. Apology accepted but I feel compelled to leave a review of my experience. We had to find another place to stay after driving from Florida and while being very exhausted. A refund was given but it looks like I will be responsible for $15 credit card fee. My short vacation was completely ruined. I spent money on gasoline, took a day off work, made plans for my children, and ended up staying in a crappy hotel and driving home the next day. The owner who apologized said she was learning how to be a better host, and I really hope she will be more understanding of what people put into their vacation investment and choosing their cabins to make memories. We had really been looking forward to this so much. Very heartbreaking. I will never return. I have recommended your cabins to many people but now I will make a point to tell folks to avoid at all costs. David Watson P.S. The location is beautiful but I’m gonna give it one star also due to my horrible experience.
Always loved going here, 4 or 5 times since 2020, but this last visit have us looking elsewhere out of disappointment. I would’ve thought by now they’d have upgraded the refrigerator in Fish Tales (broken drawer) or some of the small kitchen utensils, like a can opener that doesn’t even work. The soap containers are intentionally left half empty, requiring you to purchase more on your own if staying several days at cabin capacity. The toilets around the hinges were also disgusting upon arrival like the unit was rushed to be clean… You’ll become frequent visitors with the Dollar General at the bottom of the hill for your cleaning products!! We kept finding dead ladybugs everywhere even with keeping the doors shut - how are they getting in?? My boys slept in the room above the master and came home with BED BUG bites as determined by their doctor. Eww! They normally sleep in the north facing room, but to our surprise the futon is gone and replaced with a single bed (which wasn’t mentioned nor shown in listing photos). We were there during a state burn ban and after repeatedly emailing (and calling) to get approval to burn from the owners when the ban was lifted, they refused even though the local fire department AND the state forestry agency said it was okay to do so. My husband hung up on when he called the owner and our friends think their email was blocked after attempting to reach someone as her emails kept getting bounced back. We understand it was a holiday week, but as guests on their property all we wanted was for them to source the proper information and relay it back. Hate to leave this property on such a distasteful experience. However I think they really need to do some upgrades to the interiors and update their listing photos to reflect it as well. My only positive note was we enjoyed the Christmas tree being placed in the cabin prior to arrival. It was beautiful and one of the few positives.
Charming cottage with incredible views of the Tennessee river. The cottage was clean and adequately stocked. Loved the seclusion of the place and especially appreciated the well maintained hot tub after long days of hiking. However my rating was influenced by lack of any contact with owners ( I appreciate owners who leave you be, but find a brief check in message very hospitable) as well as the myriad of rules emailed to me as well as posted all around the cottage. But overall this was a lovely place to stay and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.
Awesome spot. The cabin was very clean and cozy. And the view! Man, what a view. The pictures do not do it justice. These cabins are very nice and I would recommend them to anyone. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough, it wasn't a deterrent to venture out. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you, Grant Summit Cabins, for a great and memorable vacation.
Fish Tales cabin has amazing views. This was our 2nd time here with extended family (booked in my dad's name) and we had a fantastic time. It's obvious the owner takes great pride in his properties. (Whoever decided on the Bamboo mattresses for the bedrooms deserves a raise. They're great!) We did have a large number of ladybug visitors trying to escape the cold, but they were harmless. We wanted to make some good memories after a tough few months, and we did just that. Thank you.
