George Wyth State Park
What people are saying
For a state park located in a state that doesn’t really take care of its waterways or other natural resources it’s doing alright. Both paved and single track multi use trails throughout park. One main Lake and the Cedar River have created a variety of fishing options. Decent campground and numerous areas to park and wander about. A kayak rental service is on site but seems like a place you just contact ahead of time. E. coli is a mid to late summer issue so keep that in mind if thinking about actually getting in the water. Flooding has allowed some of the park to slowly be reclaimed. Unsure of the fees but feel as if it’s reasonable.
Quieter park (one reason we love it). Lots of walking trails, paved and off road. Lots of water for fishing and boating. Campground clean and hosts are friendly.
It was so relaxing just being outdoors in the fresh air enjoying the beautiful trees, sunshine and water. We came across a beach area that let's you swim completely free and is very clean and family friendly, but not only do they have the free swim, they have a place where you can rent kayaks, paddle boats, canoes, inter tubes, and other floaty devices, they really have everything! I believe it was called Maxx Rentals, and everything was priced super cheap. I will definitely being going back soon to spend some much needed family time and time alone on the water there! I highly recommend everyone to check it out for yourselves!
Really nice campground. So many trees and a beautiful river. Bugs weren't too bad. Flies do bite, but nice little beach area, tons of baby frogs when we went. Plenty of spots and we'll worth the price!! Very affordable and showers are kept up.
This was a great park for a quiet weekend. Most sites were full but they are reservable so you don't have to worry about not having a spot. Bathrooms were clean. Only electric hook-ups but water is available before you set up camp.
