Was sold an item (pricy) that was supposedly “authentic” but was not, when I found out (the next day) I called to ask for a refund (or even store credit I don’t care) but the person I talked, whom I assume was the owner, didn’t want to listen to what i said. Instead insisting that she had had a well known antique dealer who authenticated it, I asked for his credentials and name (as I was not convinced) but she didn’t give me anything and insisted that “it was real and she had sold ten others” which made my eye brow raise even higher because the item that was sold it me is very very uncommon, not something you would just have ten of no matter what estate sale you got them from (it really was supposedly one such rare thing, but I’m omitting the details of the item as to not get the owner in trouble). She refused to refund me, which I can understand (it is an Antique shop after all, not exactly swimming in profits I’d assume); however the reason why I’m leaving my first ever bad review on any shop is because she hung up on me mid sentence, and that I found to be very rude and extremely unprofessional.

I recently moved into a new home and went to Funk Shui after seeing some cool furniture pieces posted on Craigslist including a recliner I had already decided to buy before walking into the store. It's really too bad, the selection was great and the recliner was everything I thought it would be, but I needed help: "do you deliver", "what are your rates", "curbside or in home", etc. The woman at the front counter (owner maybe?) was having a loud Skype or some video conversation on her tablet about her new book and didn't even look up when I walked in. There were two other people hanging out and having a casual non-furniture related conversation towards the back of the store and I honestly have no idea if they were employees or not because they didn't acknowledge my existence either. Overall extremely confusing experience. I walked around the whole store, took me maybe 5-10 minutes, no help was ever offered. I felt so uncomfortable that I thought maybe they were closed and the door had been left unlocked and I'd missed the memo and they were waiting for me to figure it out and leave. The phrase "aggressively unwelcome" comes to mind. I weighed my options and figured she didn't need the business and I didn't need the recliner. As soon as I walked out of the store (with an immense feeling of relief I might add) I literally laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of the whole thing including my own discomfort. We have so many great consignment shops in Humboldt, I recommend checking them out before resorting to Funk Shui.

Had to do my last minute shopping so always go there because they always have really neat stuff at great prices. Had to contain myself because there was a lot more things I would have liked to buy. Sheri, the owner, is great as well as her staff.

owner (Sherry) was incredibly rude and hard to work with. There are many other stores near the area similar to hers that deserve your business much more. I am with the other two reviewers, Funk Shui in mckinleyville should be boycotted. Lady spends her time starting issues and complaining, offers very little assistance . Struggles with compassion-- DO NOT RECOMMEND

This is a consignment store. she gives very little money to the consigners and then over charges for the merchandise. ive had multiple people concur with my opinion, giving me similar stories. will join Charlene Heitmuller in boycotting Funk Shui. The woman who runs the store is very difficult to work with. Watch out, she may screw you over too.
