Emerald Lake
What people are saying
Emerald Lake is a stunning destination in Rocky Mountain National Park. The hike to the lake is scenic and rewarding, with beautiful views along the way. The lake itself is crystal clear, surrounded by impressive peaks. It's a peaceful spot perfect for taking in nature's beauty. Highly recommended for visitors.
Pictures of views on the way to emerald lake as well. It’s about a 3.6 mile out and back trail of moderate difficulty. Took us about 3.5 hours with lots of photo sessions. There’s an elevation gain so at times you may be out of breath but definitely doable.
This is an absolutely beautiful hike!! I went the first week of April and wore snowshoes. I wound definitely recommend microspikes at the very least. There were quite a few people struggling without spikes. It’s not worth an injury when you can pick up a pair of cheap spikes for $30 on Amazon.
2.5 mile hike to emerald lake from bear lake station. We visited on May first week. It’s like 2-3 feet snow all over, but it’s open and hike-able. All the lakes fully covered with snow and you can literally walk on these lakes. People who wanted to experience hike on snow will surely love this. Refer attached photos and videos. Disclaimer: it’s really really slippery as the snow became ice. Plan to have snow chains on shows or snow shoes which are provisioned with spikes. I did it with Nike shoes without realizing it, and I really regretted my decision. But it was fun because I literally ice skated while coming down with the shoes.
Absolutely breathtaking spot. Well worth the hike out and back. I recommend getting there early and packing a lunch. Once you get all the way up there you're gonna wanna hang out for a while. The views were incredible second to none. The hike was great too. Not rough at all. Kinda long. The scenic views just get better and better so enjoy it.
