Embassy Suites by Hilton Crystal City National Airport
What people are saying
Room was nice and clean, however there was no fan in the bathroom and the cabinet door fell off the first time we opened it along with a few other cosmetic issues. With that being said the staff never disappointed. They were always very kind and helpful. The metro is about a 10-15 min walk away and it was a very safe walk. We went to DC for site seeing and had no issues using the metro to get around. They offer a hotel shuttle that runs every 20min which was great for us. There are several restaurants within a 15min walk as well. The happy hours snacks are not exciting but they are free. Overall we had a great experience and we would stay again!
Good: location close to Metro; shops and restaurants. Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms. Bad: I was able to check in and pick my room in advance, but the only selection possible was on the second floor facing the freeway. The windows were in dire need of cleaning but I could only see a tree and the freeway anyhow. The noise from breakfast and happy hour was very noticeable in the front room. The noise from the freeway kept me up in the bedroom. It’s an issue with Embassy Suites design that if you have a lower floor you’re subjected to a lot of noise. The included happy hour is sad. Despite Hilton gold status I was given possibly the worse room on property (low floor facing highway) and late check out was not available. There are many other hotels nearby at the same price point that don’t have the inherent noise issues so I will not be staying here again. Regarding the manager’s response to my review and the quick acting nature of their employees, I had no issue with service at this location. I did not bring up the dirty windows as this didn’t seem something that could be resolved quickly. I did not bring up the noisy room as someone has to stay in these rooms, and the hotel was at capacity.
The location was the best part of this hotel. Every single interaction with hotel staff was rude and disappointing (including the bar staff). They were incredibly dismissive to me, and I witnessed front desk personnel being condescending to other guests. Room service walked into my room without knocking before checkout time just as I finished taking a shower. And the hotel is incredibly loud due to its layout.
The reason its 3 stars is because unlike the past few years, the hotel has gotten more and more expensive. Last year, the parking outside had 2 more rows and was completely free. Now its for "premium" members, and there are 2 rows less. Aldo the parking costs a whoppin $46 per night. Nonetheless, the hotel is still pretty good.
First of all I want to shout out all the staff, who were consistently so friendly and helpful, from the guy driving the airport shuttle, to the front desk clerks, to the folks staffing breakfast in the morning. Second, the location here is pretty great if you're planning to use the metro to get around DC. Third, and I cannot stress this enough, this is the first hotel I've stayed at in a long while where the rooms are actually sound-proofed and the bed is actually firm and supportive. I had some of the best sleep I've had in ages while I was here.
