Eldorado Inn Baker City
What people are saying
We've stayed here before and liked it well enough to stay again. However, this time, all we did was ask for 2 extra pillows - my husband and I both have bad backs and the King Room had just 3 pillows on the bed. It didn't seem like a lot to ask, but the lady at the front desk said she is required to give us only one extra pillow. I accepted that answer yet as I walked by the unused double Queen room next to ours and looked through the window I could see that the two Queen beds had 3 pillows each for a total of six pillows. That room went unused that night with six pillows. Kind of seemed a bit chintzy. We also got lectured for 5 minutes about what to do with our pup. We always follow all the rules, signed a long form agreeing to them and paid the $15/night (reasonable). We've never gotten such a long lecture and list of requirements (don't go on that side of the building, your dog must be on this towel they give you and not on the bed, and of course pick up dog poop - which we always do - you will be fined if you don't, and on and on). We felt a bit like we were being blamed for everything others do and not given the benefit of the fact that we'd stayed here before with no issues. It's still a good value but please don't be so chintzy with your senior guests who ask for extra pillows!!
Great Hotel right off the freeway. Excellent customer service. It's great to support local businesses like this that is not a chain hotel. We enjoyed our time here and already have another stay booked. Baker City is an old town with great character. If you're looking for a GREAT experience at a hotel and need a safe place to rest this is the place for you. Looking forward to our future trips to Baker City.
If you are okay with a truck stop experience, where beds are clean, room is cool and ya can get that upstairs room to avoid riff raft… nothing wrong with El Dorado. Staff is as friendly as needed. Thanks for that. The fridge and microwave took the edge off my travels. Guest were cool. For the more pretentious type… maybe stay at holiday inn. Me? I just need to sleep. I’ll be back.
We stayed in the this hotel because everything was booked for the Shriners football game. This morning at 1 a.m. someone tried to get in our room several times.I tell him from the window to go away.About 2 a.m. he came at the door like bulldozer coming.I called Baker police and came 15 minutes later found him to sleep it off in his truck.Gun shots went off he was harassing us and also the people next door.we couldn't sleep all night. This hotel does not open until 3 in the afternoon and no one to answer the Front desk.Theres also no breakfast.Or ice.The room is old but clean. No necessities. Overall a horrible stay.We never stay again for sure.
I wanted to share a nice review about this place, but after learning about the owner and their intentions within this community, I feel like I would be doing a disservice the residents of Baker City, OR and visitors alike. That said, this a perfectly respectable 2-star establishment. There's not heated pool available for the foreseeable future. I recommend avoiding weekends if you have children. Cheers! Caveat emptor.
