DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Diego Downtown
What people are saying
Absolutely love this place. Really modern and super clean. Rooms are spacious and the balcony over looking the ocean and airport wad marvelous. A bit noisy when you open the balcony door because of the close proximity to the freeway but once it's closed it's tranquil silence. The pool are was nice but lonesome. Towels are available at poolside. Little Italy is a 2 min walk. The only sketchy part is the parking situation. It's super small and tight fit to go I'm, especially getting out. Small cars should be OK but bigger vehicles take precautions.
I just recently stayed here for one night visiting the area for a little getaway. The location is fantastic with the waterfront, little Italy, and train station extremely close. The building definitely seems to be an older property but I thought it gave it a unique charm. Perla at the FD was absolutely fantastic. Even though I was there for a night she upgraded the room and really made me feel welcome. She provided me with some extra information regarding my stay which I really appreciated. Ron who was our server for breakfast the next day was also super friendly. I would definitely stay again!
This hotel is in a great location — a quick walk to Little Italy and the Waterfront (though it’s also right next to the freeway, so perhaps not the best for light sleepers). The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the facility is well maintained. We were in a suite, which was very spacious, though there is no door separating the two rooms. The mattress in the pull-out sofa was thin and not the most comfortable, but it was adequate. Parking is $40 per night; fyi, the ramps in the garage are incredibly narrow — not for the faint of heart! You do have in and out privileges, which is great. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.
The location was nice, we were walking distance to a lot of places. It was really quiet when we came, our window faced the freeway & we did not hear any noise. The only thing I did not like was the shower size. I would say I’m a medium built person & the shower curtain was touching me. Other than that, the staff was really nice, the room was nice & we had a nice trip.
Pros: 1. Great view from our balcony. 2.Rooms were clean and spacious. 3.Breakfast was served well and it was delicious. Cons: 1. They do charge for parking(45$) per car so parking is not free like other Hilton hotels. 2. There was no towels kept in a room. We got the towels after asking multiple times to management. 3. There was no dental kit in the bathroom too. 4. Breakfast is NOT complimentary here.
