I recently rented a car from Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz and was disappointed with the experience. Despite choosing a compact car to save on fuel costs, the vehicle provided had a strong odor of cigarette smoke. When I requested a different car, I was initially told there were no alternatives available, but eventually, I was given a mid-size car. This vehicle felt as though it lacked power steering fluid. Upon reporting this issue to an attendant, I was assured that the car had been inspected and was in good condition. Additionally, after refueling the car within three miles of the airport before returning it, I was unexpectedly charged $120 for gas. I submitted a case and provided a receipt for reimbursement, but after more than a week, I am still waiting for a resolution. This experience has been quite frustrating.

I have never rented from any Dollar location before, and after reading the reviews, I was very nervous about renting from this one at the Phoenix airport. I am happy that I gave it a try though, because everything was smooth. I had no issues. There was no long line. I prepaid and was charged the amount that was on my reservation. I received my deposit back on my credit card the next day. The process was extremely quick and Moe provided great customer service. I’m not sure why so many people had a bad experience, but I had the perfect experience, and will definitely rent from this location again.

I was nervous to book a car through Dollar based on the bad reviews. I am not sure why they have so many bad reviews. However my experience was not bad and was actually pretty great. We got in just after midnight, and it took maybe 15 min to get the car, and then returning was the easiest thing and all I had to do was park the car and leave the keys inside. I was not haggled or coerced into getting their insurance, they asked me one time and I just said no thank you and that was that. I was not over charged and my bill was exactly what I booked it for. Would definitely use Dollar again.

After checking in, we waited 35 minutes for someone to bring the car. I guess it is on the other side of Phoenix. Stay away unless you like sitting in the airport lobby while on vacation. We will never rent here again! 😩 When car arrived the touch screen did not work, the radio did not work, They said they would bring another car, 45 minutes….still waiting. There is literally no crowd at the airport, bring a calendar to track time waiting and be ready for a lot of attitude from half of the staff. 👎

The staff tries to trap you as much as possible by (1) not telling you you’re getting insurance without proper disclosure or basic communication; (2) ask you to sign without telling you what you’re signing and make it that it’s not an option to preview what you’re signing for - I made the terrible mistake of not checking until they charged me $270 for 4 days renting; (3) lying about the gas price near the airport. When they ask “basic or comprehensive”, don’t fall for it! They’re talking about insurance: and if you have a credit card that covers secondary rental car insurance, say NEITHER. Also they would try to tell you to prepay for gas but you can easily get gas nearby for $.5/gallon cheaper. The most unprofessional and lying staff ever I’ve encountered out of all my rental car experience. Please let’s be smart and defend our rights by not letting them keep getting away with such a exploiting behavior
