Worse experience ever! It is taking 2 hours to get the car.
One of the absolute worst car hires on earth. Earth is a big place so do the math. They will rip you off and more or less steal from you in a glorified manner. Find out for yourself. They charged me fees before pickup and after and I mean well over $300.00 which was on top of the pre paid Hotwire fee.
I rent cars all over the country, and recently decided to take the bait on Dollar at BWI instead of my usual Hertz or National....I will never make that mistake again!!!! First off, we sat in line for 30 minutes, including behind folks with no reservations, some of whom got cars, we got told to sit and wait. Long story short....wasn’t even close to worth the $15 I saved....at least with Hertz and National, I would have gone right to my car never had to stop at the desk...
While the customer service was good at times, and the personnel were helpful at our drop off location/we received a voucher, something is wrong with this location. We went through 7 vehicles before we were able to leave the lot with a working vehicle. 1. Smelled of smoke 2. Required repairs, nail in tire 3. Not enough room for luggage 4-6. Holds on the car for expired plates? 7. Left with a vehicle with a broken side mirror that was not cleaned. The worst part, is during the COVID-19 pandemic we found clear evidence (in the car we used) that they did not touch the inside of the vehicle to clean/sanitize between users. There was leftover food boxes, ketchup containers, trash, and leftover smoking materials. We’re all struggling— but there’s no excuse for leaving a vehicle in this condition, especially during a pandemic.
I have a got great deal on a rental car from Dollar through a third party website; however, they slammed me with extra $50 when I got the car. That was not the issue; as I have rented the car for a month amd returned on time to Dollar. However, twenty days later, I receive a $130 charge on my credit card without a notice or any explanation! The car had a zero excess body waiver, and I am sure I didn't do any damages to the car. In fact, I have cleaned the car properly inside out to make sure no one imposes extra charges. I tried to call multiple times with no help. It is very frustrating and I feel that got scammed, especially when someone charges me extra money without any explanation or an email notice of my violations if any! I have been travelling for business for the past 7 years to the US and Europe, and I always rent a car, this is the first time such an incident happens to me and to be honest, this is was the first time I rent a car from Dollar, and it will be the last time. I would rather pay few bucks more from other company over getting a deal from Dollar and then get scammed by more than 25% of the original "great deal," which made it the most small size car that I have ever rented! Such a shame!
