We chose this restaurant based on previous experiences for a birthday celebration. We had an early reservation and the restaurant was not crowded. In particular, the food was disappointing. I ordered lasagna, which was not served hot. My wife ordered chicken Parmesan and it was tough. I'm both cases, the tomato-based sauces appeared watered-down and lacked flavor. I'm addition, loud conversation among the staff detracted for the experience. To be fair, this was a one-off from previous experiences where both food and atmosphere were excellent. While this maybe common for chains, etc, a dining experience at this price point comes with an expectation of excellence and consistent high standards.

We went recently for the first time years. It has really gone downhill. It used to be a thriving lively restaurant for great Italian style dishes. This time the menu had been greatly simplified, and there is nothing wrong with that if the quality is there. But it was not. We thought it was very overpriced for the dishes we had.

Would say it was a 5 star experience, I got something to try that was not to my taste, but it was me branching out. The risotto was phenomenal the veg of the day was green beans and they were well seasoned and crisp. The potato soup was good enough to be a stand alone meal, and the bread with the oil and roasted garlic paired well with everything. The show stopper was really the crème Brûlée, with a nice cappuccino to accompany. It had a excellent crust, and was simple and delicious. Want to comment on our server. He was also wonderful.

Located in an old Aiken house, this restaurant has a great feel and fun for dinner. Food is great and the staff is very courteous. Nice outdoor seating area. It can get crowded, so I recommend reservations on Friday and Saturday nights.

I have been coming here since I moved here 8 years ago because it was close in quality to where I’m from. I haven’t been here in about 9 months and boy have things changed. First, we order a shrimp cocktail appetizer. Five shrimp came on a flat saucer, they were warm as was the cocktail sauce. EVERYWHERE else serves them on ice, this place used to. Next we both got Caesar salads. They also came on warm plates and were very mediocre tasting. What happened to the cold plates? Finally, I ordered shrimp scampi for my entree. First, it had stewed cherry tomatoes on top of it which I’ve never seen anywhere (including here) and the scampi sauce had pretty much no flavor. I kept adding salt hoping it would help; it didn’t. Apparently they’ve changed chefs at least once or twice in the past year. This is a place I’ve always recommended to people. Not anymore. My wife and I decided we won’t be back. This was our go to place for special occasions. Very very disappointed that the one place in Aiken that had the best Italian food is now pretty bad. Our dinner at Carrabbas way significantly better and that’s trouble when a chain place is better than a mom and pop place. For 7 years I never had a bad meal here. Sadly that can’t be said anymore.
