BUYER BEWARE!!! Terrible service from start to finish. Checkout lady doesn't explain car functions or the terms on the rental contract. Plus, they've kept my deposit of $131 after returning the car full of gas with no blemishes.
I had a very disappointing experience with this car rental company. I called in the morning to confirm that a car would be ready for me, and they assured me everything was set. However, when I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was immediately turned away and told they didn’t have any cars available. This kind of miscommunication and unreliability is completely unacceptable, especially when you’re counting on a rental for your plans. I won’t be using or recommending this company but more specifically this location to anyone. I called budget who said I could pick up a car at the Sterling location who I then called before driving over and they also said they did not have a car. Thankfully they refunded me immediately. In the end I booked with enterprise who had exceptional customer service and a car for me.
My name was different on my credit card than on my license. I assured the woman at the desk that it was purely aesthetic, that the account the card is connected to is in fact in my name, but she did not consider that acceptable nor explain why. I offered a debit card to use for the deposit, as it has my correct name on it, or to procure my name change order procured by a Fairfax County judge, to prove that the credit card and ID were owned by the same person (me), but she instead made me go back home to find an expired license to use to rent the car. She even changed the name on the rental, for some reason. It felt unnecessarily degrading and time-consuming. She also was sure to make a comment about how she preferred the photo on my previous ID to my photo now. Again- felt rude and unnecessary! I guess if you need to rent a car but you don't have a valid ID in the state of Virginia, this may be the place to go though :p
Like so many other people in the review list here, I too naively ignored the reviews and went ahead and booked a minivan 30 days in advance out of here, and got royally stood up 3 hours into the pick up time and facing 2 nights of pre-paid hotel bookings for 2 rooms each and having to pacify a disgruntled family of 6 including two small children who were all looking forward to a fun weekend. Leave alone the unempathetic agency who simply punted me to call the customer service and ask for options, to top it was the so-called customer "service" who very casually said they can get me a same class vehicle from another location for 3 times the price what I had reserved for. I spoke to 5 different agents on 5 different calls and was given the same answer, and no way to escalate to anyone. But at least they were all very consistent in being un-empathetic, un-apologetic, and un-helpful, kudos to the training team!!! I am going to talk to an attorney to see what I can do to get Budget to re-imburse the financial losses I suffered as I had 2 nights/2 hotel rooms each already paid which I can never get back + all the mental inconveniences we suffered. This is my first such experience in 20+ years of renting cars from Avis, Enterprise and National - but it was my first rental with Budget as well. Never again.
I have been renting cars here for a few years. Martha at the front desk is so incredibly nice. She is very friendly and always makes the process very easy. They have always had a good selection of cars. It's so much easier than going to the airport to rent a car.
