Budget Car Rental
What people are saying
This is our first time using Budget Car Rental. Checking out was inside the airport - convenient and smooth. After checking out inside the airport, we walked to the cars location. We immediately noticed how dirty the car was. My husband went back inside the airport to request another car. Below is a picture of the second car we received. Unfortunately, it's also very dirty. I can't believe Budget would rent a car like this. I guess you get what you pay for.
We made reservations to pick up a rental at about 10:30 am on 4/28. We had major airline delays and were not able to pick up the rental car until 12:08 am 4/29. However, we were charged as though we picked up the car according to the original reservation. I talked to customer service and directly to the branch at the airport. They would not adjust the price. Reading the contract, they charged us for 74 hours. According to the contract, there was a 51 hour minimum. We would have our car for about 52 hours. Didn’t matter. They would still not adjust the charge. I’m considering filing a discrepancy with my credit card company to challenge the charge.
Truck missing all but two lug nuts per wheel on driver side... I rented a full-sized truck from the Colorado Springs Airport location, and almost 80 miles down the road discovered that on both front and rear driver side wheel all but two lug nuts were missing. I contacted Budget's help line, and the person I spoke with was very confused and couldn't help me. She finally suggested I call roadside assistance. I contacted roadside assistance, and their solution was that I drive the 80 miles back to the original rental location in a truck missing six of its ten lug nuts. Regardless to say, this was not a course of action I was willing to take. I tried to explain that I was afraid of the wheels falling off to the person from Budget, but she just wasn't understanding the life-threatening danger and the associated life-and-limb liability that Budget would face. The Budget representative finally tried to get me a replacement vehicle at a closer location, but none was apparently available. Finally, I had to come up with the solution. I told the representative that I was going to drive a much shorter distance to an auto parts store and buy lug nuts. So, out of my pocket came the money needed to keep me out of a life-threatening situation in a Budget vehicle.
The last 4 times we have booked with them, we haven't received what we booked. They didn't have the car. We pay for a more expensive car to receive the cheapest rental. My last booking was for a alwheel drive suv/ truck, and the photos clearly show a car....
We had our rental booked and paid for upfront months in advance. Once we arrived in Colorado Springs from Houston, Tx at 9 am we were extremely excited to begin our adventure but suddenly was halted to a stop once we arrived at the rental counter and was notified that the jeep we booked had a safety recall. I do understand things like this happens it would have been acceptable but we were never notified previously nor was reached out to see what other options were available. It was a very aggravating encounter and a poor lack of communication on budgets end to resolve this issue or make it better on the rental side of things. The counter associate recommended cars that were supposedly more higher in price but was indeed a smaller compact car. He did not try very hard to upgrade to a full size suv nor try and make things better suitable to us the customer.
