Let's start with the good things. Their prices can NOT be beat. Their shuttle service from and to the airport is great. Now for the not so good (and, MAN, is it a saga). We booked a car from ACE Rent a Car through priceline for a five week rental at a cost of approx $1600.00. Flew in from Germany, caught the shuttle over to Wilkinson Rd. and went in to get the keys. The agent called up our reservation but said that it had been cancelled AND refunded by "them" (Priceline, Ace, who knows). He proceeds to manually load a new reservation with Best Rent a Car (who it turns out is an ACE affiliate apparently) at a cost of approx. $1300.00 and goes on and on about how he is saving us $300.00. Cool, right? WRONG! He tosses me the keys, takes my email address, and says he'll send the contract to it. We go out, do a quick walk around and take pics of the minor exterior issues (dings, etc.) and off we go. About three days into the booking I start checking for our refund. Never happens. For the next FOUR weeks I am locked in a death spiral with Priceline, ACE, and Best Rent A Car . Also, the check engine light came on at the three week mark. We thought we would wait until we were in Asheville to have it looked at. On the way there, the left front tire seemed to go. Turns out it hadn't but there was a serious noise coming out of the left front whenever we exceeded 60 MPH. I suspect it was paneling in the fender well slapping around. So we took the car to a mechanic and he indicated the maintenance guys simply forgot to reset the light after the last maintenance (oil change). He couldn't find any lose paneling (as I couldn't either), BUTTTT, he did tell us the left front tire was DANGEROUSLY bald. Bottom line, I called ACE / Best and read them the GD RIOT act for placing my family in real danger. Some might say I should have looked at that. To that, I say, how much is a customer supposed to inspect? Should I have to take a rental car to a mechanic to give it a once over before renting or should I TRUST the rental COMPANY has a safe fleet? Ended up limping the car over to Greenville, SC (alone because I didn't want my family in that POS for one more second) and they gave me another one (just as filthy, but good tires at least). Took another week to get our refund. Oh, but it was for the cheaper booking so the agent didn't save us even one dime. Sean is his name. Tell him I say hey IF you choose to rent from this company. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. ABSOLUTE five week nightmare! Oh, and we never received the contract...even though they "sent it" three times.
Renting a car from the Charlotte Airport location was a wonderful experience from end-to-end! This was the best priced rental online that allowed a free cancellation and pay at pickup. I travel a lot and great customer service stands out, especially at this location. The Ace custom van is really nice and has a very safe driver. The drive from the airport to the Ace Center was 8 minutes or less! Courtney, my Ace Rental Consultant was very nice, engaging, accommodating and patient with my check in process. And if that isn't enough I got a free upgrade to a car with a sunroof! I drove to the beach and back and believe me that drive experience was a blast! Can't go wrong with this car rental company!
Wish I did my research before booking here. Two days into our trip, while driving on a highway the car shuts off and an error comes on saying “Malfunction” was able to pull over to a safe place and call them. To then be told since we didn’t take their insurance we would have to tow the car back ourselves for an exchange and will get reimbursed. Dealt with Kiara, who was very unprofessional and unhelpful. Stated that she’s closing up at 8pm and if we don’t get there before then we would have to wait till the next morning. She was not willing to wait a few minutes after 8pm! We decided to just wait it out till the next morning to tow the car which we then was helped by Ashley who in deed was helpful. As for the reimbursement, the manager Miss Kay told us that’s not happening! Stay safe and away from this company, pay the extra bucks and book with a higher rated company.
Shawn Myers was awesome and made my experience with ACE a great one. Hosea the shuttle driver was on point and got me to the rental car location safely. Thank you for your services.
Great customer service! Staff made us feel very welcome and I felt like they appreciated our business. The inventory was low, so we got a car that was a bit dinged up, but it ran great.
