This was a mixed bag. The room was great and had a fantastic view of the bay. It was close to the waterfront and little Italy and walking distance from the civic theater where we saw a concert. The staff was a bit flat as far as friendliness. The complimentary breakfast was either a microwaveable sandwich or burrito of the kind you can get at any gas station or quick mart. That was a letdown. Stayed there 7/12-713.
Bed was comfortable and linens smelled and felt clean. In Downtown San Diego, just 15 min to the bay. Check in/out was super easy. We stayed one night and fit us perfectly fine. Parking deck is $22 p/n (the cheapest in the area but not gated)
My iPad, passport, and several other personal belongings were stolen from my hotel room while I was attending the ASH2023 conference. The incident was handled poorly by the hotel staff, and none of the stolen items were reimbursed. Furthermore, the hotel did not cooperate with the police investigation. Although the staff had access to door code data that could identify who had entered my room, they refused to release this information to me or the authorities.
Booked this place as I was departing out on a cruise. Location is excellent for this purpose as it is just a short ride to the Broadway Pier where our ship was departing from. We did not rent a car but a trip from the San Diego airport was very reasonable via Uber or Lyft and both were easy to take when we wanted to see some nearby sights. The hotel does not have a traditional lobby and the check in desk is right by the entrance along with a security guard that sits by the doors at night. They also have no hot breakfast but instead have a grab and go bagged breakfast, I found this to be more than enough along with a coffee station. Room was clean but was facing the city and a large construction project. This will be the case for quite some time but I didn't find it too distracting and unless you intend to sleep in till fairly late and are a light sleeper it shouldn't bother you much. I also have to thank the manager. I called the day before we were going to arrive as I wanted to advise we may arrive after midnight due to the late flight we were on. At that time I found that I had Double booked (once on their site and once via Booking). Despite being too late to cancel by a few hours the manager came on the phone and cancelled my booking from their own site so that she could override the fact it was too late to cancel. SO appreciated and that kind of service is what creates brand loyalty. You can be sure I'll be looking for BW first in my future travels!
I stayed here one night before leaving at the nearby cruise terminal. The staff are great. Isabel at the front desk was wonderful. The rooms are nice and comfortable
