Saw the reviews after I got the bundle deal from American Airlines and prayed I wouldn't share the experiences many reviewers had. Unfortunately, despite being paid for in full, they charged me an additional $200 at drop off for miscellaneous fees that made no sense. I had to call and was told that I was charged for satellite radio (never told this or agreed to this), was charged for an upgrade (again, never agreed to pay for an upgrade), and charged for insurance (which I specifically declined because I had my own). I thought I was being smart by recording the inside and outside of the car upon returning it to assure they couldn't lie and charge me for anything extra, but they were clearly one step ahead. Worst birthday ever, thanks AVIS.
Beware! This Avis is definitely scamming people!! Do not rent from here if you can avoid it. I rented a car on Feb 11 for 1 day. The first car that they tried to give me was dirty and had dents, so I asked for another. This one was fine. I returned the car with a full tank, no damages, and confirmation from the staff member that everything was fine. 3 weeks later, I received a $450 charge on my credit with no explanation. After calling customer service, they reported that it was for smoking. I do not smoke. Luckily the phone representative checked my report and found the same. She said it must have been a mistake. However, seems fishy to me that 3 weeks later Avis would find my information again to charge something a few. However, a few other reviewers have had similar incidents. Just avoid! I’ve also reported the fraud it to corporate Avis to see if they can do anything about it.
Avis is genealogy good, but the last few times I have picked up a car at O'hare, the demand queue has been crazy. This particular time, the preferred line was over 100 people. The board indicated that virtually everyone had to see the clerk. The wait was over an hour. I tried the app nimrod times with success only after an hour waitand about 25 people from the front of the line. Something needs to be done to better automate their process
My first choice is Avis!! Cars are always clean and I just walk in and get my car!! No extra charges like others. Click your reservation and go!
Scamming folks, as another reviewer mentioned. Also charge an extra $450 claiming smoke in the car which is a lie. Will be reporting third.
