Avis Car Rental
What people are saying
Huge improvement in service since my last visit - got an email after getting my car from the manager with a direct contact line. Even on a sold out day, they found a convertible hybrid to put me in. With free charging at Amazon, we had a ton of fun in the sun and got amazing gas mileage. If you get a Dodge Hornet, Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Wrangler, or Jeep Grand Cherokee; make sure to take advantage of free charging at Amazon offices after hours. Between Amazon and other stations, I drove 350+ miles for $14 in charging Exit: a lil annoyed that the Avis app doesn’t work at this location for me
An hour line thanks to 3 employees working and limited vehicles. Sent to the garage to a second "express" line where we waited for cars to be returned and serviced. Got an "upgrade" to a SUV that wasn't even cleaned.
I rented from this place for the first time. A couple of notes: - If you pick up the vehicle at the airport, they charge you extra fees than a regular location - The queue for the car rental can be pretty long. For me, it was more than 30 min of wait on a long weekend Saturday. Always plan ahead and have buffer. - If you are an Avis preferred member, they have a dedicated counter at Floor 2 to skip the line. You can even go directly to the vehicle by selecting a car on the app. In that case, they will show your name and the spot number on the LED pane . The key is in the car - no need to talk to anybody. - when you leave, you need to show your driving license or scan the QR code to exit.
This place is hot garbage. Go rent with national. They can’t figure out how to get their system working. The pics show the preferred services line. There was a line of 40 plus people in the non preferred and another 50 plus preferred members who had to go thru the counter because they couldn’t assign cars. When you call customer service their response is we can’t help. If you want incompetence go with Avis otherwise do yourself a favor and go with national or another rental company.
The rental experience (check-in, check-out, reservation etc) was great. Quick and easy pick up and drop off, the vehicle we got was great for our purposes. Traveled in March, did some hiking and sight-seeing without troubles. No issues on the road at all. Checked in with employees after drop off, looked at the vehicle all together, got our stuff and went on our way - easy! BUT - 10 days later, via mail, just got hit with a $250 cleaning fee for "excessive dirt-sand." I've rented many cars over the years (and with Avis) and have never seen this happen. Got on the phone with customer service who sent me the "damage" report including photos. Y'all. The car needed to be vacuumed, which is already part of the cleaning procedure after a rental return. There was nothing excessive about it. I worked for a car rental agency for years and we NEVER charged for something that is included with the typical post-rental cleaning. And looking at other recent reviews where cars very obviously haven't been cleaned, it's exceptionally outrageous. Attached are the "damage report" pics and what they are claiming will cost $250 to clean. Please. A quick Google search shows that fraudulent post-rental fees are apparently common practice in Avis offices, just took a long time to happen to me I guess. All customer service could tell me was to call back after the charge has actually gone through on my card and even then they can only refund me $125. Straight up robbery guys, that's gross. Without this, it would have easily been a 5 star review. Such a shame - the pleasantries of the entire trip don't make up for outright theft. Dang it, now I have to find another car rental agency
